Game of Thrones, new word
Oct. 14th, 2013 09:50 am* I've never heard of this show before (Ben & Holly, on Nick Jr), but it amuses me that they did a Game of Thrones spoof:
* It's not often I run across a new word. I ran into this one while I was editing one of our documents, and I had to look it up to see if it really was a word or if it was just badly typoed.
Femtosecond: A femtosecond is the SI unit of time equal to 10−15 of a second. That is one quadrillionth, or one millionth of one billionth, of a second.
Your task for today: Try to use it in a sentence!

Date: 2013-10-14 09:18 pm (UTC)Word that most recently confounded me is "avoirdupois". Came across it when throwing together some UI documentation ("Conversions are made using the following conversion ratios: 1.000 Pound (avoirdupois) = 0.454 Kilograms - 1.000 Kilogram = 2.205 Pounds (avoirdupois)"). Then ran into one in Sunken Temple of Qarn (big stone head). Weird week.
