Have you read From the Fatherland With Love by Ryu Murakami? It's not for everyone, but I certainly learnt a lot about North Korea from it. It's heavy on exposition, has a lot of technical and economical jargon, but the setting, dark humour, and characters are memorable and well worth the bumpy ride.
