I think it's absolutely silly. Especially since gay men of my generation never knew a world without HIV, all the guys I know (or ever have known) are extremely careful about safe sex and get tested regularly if they're sexually active. It's just something you do. A heterosexual male, on the other hand, who goes around banging all the women he can find without a condom, and never gets tested because the risk never occurs to him, can donate all the blood he wants. It's so discriminatory and unfair!

Yeah, they're talking about changing that law, BUT if you're gay and want to donate blood, it'd be mandatory that you've been celibate for at least one year.
