My RL name is very uncommon, so much so that I never hear Joe Blow out on the street yelling it to some not-me person. I've only heard it used on TV only once or twice in my whole life. So when it is used, it really gets my attention.

It's funny to see that happen in a fic. 'Thistle' may not be my real name, but I'm just as comfortable (if not more comfortable) answering to it.

"I expect I see what you're saying," she said, thoughtfully. "Pansy, he's always been this way. I rather think you might be good for him. You're normal," Blaise mused, "and you're tough, too. In fact, your parents really should have called you 'Thistle'. Yes, that's fitting I think. Looks soft to the touch, but watch your fingers..."

Sort of takes you out of the headspace of the story, but in a good way. It made me stop reading and grin.
