How did I miss [livejournal.com profile] ithurtsmybrain until [livejournal.com profile] ponderosa121 made mention of it? What a great and wonderful and funny idea! And how will I ever get any work done today with all this insanity to read?

I'm starting on the first posted story, which is Legolas (LotR)/Johnny Fever (WKRP in Cincinnati). *DIES DIES DIES* Who'd think of pairing those two! And it's well done, too! I've not seen WKRP in ages, but Johnny's voice is perfect!

And future stories on my plate? How about some Babs Bunny (Tiny Toons)/Riddick (Pitch Black)? Indiana Jones/The "Can you hear me now?" guy? Lady Eboshi (Princess Mononoke)/T-1000 (Terminator 2)? *dies and dies and dies* And all those are just on the comm's first page!

Fic recs!

How long has it been since I've posted fic recs? Seems like ages. Probably has been!

I've been reading back through [livejournal.com profile] ithurtsmybrain, and have come across some really good and/or really amusing ones:

The Frog Prince: Legolas (LotR)/Johnny Fever (WKRP in Cincinnati). I finished reading this after my earlier post, and only got more impressed by the story. It's amazing, just amazing, how well the two themes were meshed together. I've not watched WKRP in years, but everything felt perfectly right about the fic. The characters' voices were dead-on (at least the WKRP ones. I don't know LotR well enough to comment on Legolas's.). If you read only one [livejournal.com profile] ithurtsmybrain fic, I recommend this one (especially if you're familiar with WKRP).

SenseDep: Babs Bunny (Tiny Toons)/Riddick (Pitch Black). I had read this one more for "There's no way the writer will pull this pairing off, and I want to see how bad it is", but know what? The darned thing was believable. Good, too. How crazy is that?

Bugs and the Men who Love Them: Gil Grissom (CSI)/Shino (Naruto). First off: What a fitting pairing! Gil is especially well written. More stories in this pairing/AU/whatever would be really great.

Happy reading!

When I first started playing DRK, I said I wanted to be the best one the best one possible. Know my abilities as well as possible, be able to hit my macros without thought, to have the best equipment possible.

As part of that, at level 59 I'd need a Haubergeon. Though that's a whole 9 levels away, I knew it'd cost a lot (I figured around 2 million), so I went and checked the prices today.

I was wrong. It wasn't 2 millions. It was nearly 5 million.

*cringe* I've never even spent 1 million on anything, so where in the world would I get 4,800,000+? And worse than that, this really isn't "exceptional" DRK armor, it's the expected stuff (along with sniper's rings). But how to get so much money?

At first I thought I'd just make arrows endlessly. Spend every weekend in Jeuno making and selling them. I could probably make a couple million in a few weeks... but I'd be bored out of my mind and probably hate the game by the time I had enough money.

As I was thinking about this problem, I checked someone's bazaar. He had a Lu Shang's Fishing Rod listed for just over 2 million.

2 million for selling one item. An item that I have. An item I never use.

Hmmm.

I was going to wait at least until tonight. Think it over. Be sure. But I hate fishing now. SE ruined the system and I never want to fish anymore. I have not fished in weeks. I need to break rods to level woodworking, and I don't even want to do that much fishing. Plus, if I ever wanted to I could buy a new rod. The prices are falling. I have the key item, and that's the important part; the rod is replaceable.

So today I listed my Lu Shang for sale at the AH for just over 2.5 million. (History was 2,600,000-2,800,000 with a few at 3 million. 4 currently for sale. Higher than 50,000 listing fee.) It was a hard decision, but I think it's the right one. I never want to fish. I can't make myself fish. I hate the system. And I love being a DRK and still want to be the best one I can.

When I hit 59, I will have a Haubergeon to wear.

Edit: I did consider buying the raw materials and having it crafted, but they cost more than the finished product. One of the ingots alone cost 3,800,000. I would never do a synth with an item that costs so much, and so I wouldn't really want someone else to do it for me, either.
