FFXI and then a mention of LotR stuff at the end.
So last night, since I was tired of farming (non-players: killing massive numbers of mobs for their drops), I decided to give harvesting (pulling up plants, not to be confused with 'farming') another try. A fellow I know makes a ton of money at it, so hey. I need money, why not try! It was way, way, way boring. I spent a little over four hours doing it and just... gah. I suppose it wouldn't have been as bad as it was if the tab=freezing bug wasn't hitting me so hard. I had to unplug my computer to force a reboot seven times, plus the server kicked me off three times, and my computer had a non-FFXI-related crash twice... so it was a hard, frustrating night.
But then when I got to Windy to put my stuff up for auction, I thought the whole night was worth it! Red Moko Grass (which I had 3 stacks + 2 singles of) was selling for 120K a stack! Finally I'd have enough money to start shopping for my first Thick HQ piece! I cheered on the LS at how high the price was!
...except it wasn't. This morning I logged my mule on to list the last stack, and the whole history was 40K/stack. Buh? Turns out I had been looking at the price for stacks of thread, not stacks of grass. *facepalms* So there went my visions of 360K for my grass, but worse than that I spread disinformation across the LS. Bah.
There is a good side of this though: At only 40K/stack, I didn't make enough money on this to make me feel like I have to go harvesting again. Once everything sells I'll have made about 200K for my night's work, and I can do nearly that well on a good night of farming certain mobs. Since harvesting is boring (and tabbing isn't very healthy for my computer), I won't need to do this more.
I'm sort of hoping HQ Thick stuff won't be up for sale anytime too soon. I strongly do not look forward to going down to 0 gil and having to rebuild again. If I could get a few million ahead, then have a piece go on sale, I could buy it without dropping back to 0. But alas, as soon as I hit a million (which should be once all the harvesting stuff sells) I'll start shopping.
HQ armor = love! :P

So I've had this page-a-day Lord of the Rings calendar on my desk all year, and as the days and weeks have passed, I've been strongly hoping that next year my mother sends me a puppy or a kitten one instead of one from a theme I don't really know. But today's picture is different! I like it, even though I know little more about it than I did any of the other pictures!
It has one of those beard brothers (Beardy hume! Heehee!), the Ar-one I think. Aragon? He's got his sword drawn and he's rushing at the camera, the green glow of those... spirits? Dead warriors? Whatever it was he went wherever he did to get. (Ha ha, see? I watched that part of the movie!) It's the first picture I've really, really liked... and it's also the first picture that could pass for FFXI-ish. I'm sure those two facts are related. He really does look like the bearded hume model with a SAM sword in attack mode. :D
