thistlechaser: (Smiling Big Ham Burger)
McDonalds corporate office sent out a bunch of free Angus Third Pounder coupons to bloggers in hopes of people trying them and writing up a review. Since I got a free burger, I suppose I owe them a review.

I don't like McDonalds burgers. If I were to eat there at lunch or dinner, I'd get chicken nuggets (which I generally enjoy, even if they're horrible for you). I really, really don't like their burgers at all. They're spongy and tasteless. (Since starting to make my own burgers at home, I'm disliking all fast food burgers. If only they weren't so fast and easy!)

That being said, this Angus burger was better than McDonald's average burger. Still in no way, shape, or form good, but it is better. I suppose if you like their other burgers you might like this one.

I got the bacon one (duh!). It boggles me how many places can make bad bacon. How the heck does McDonalds make tasteless bacon? I pulled a piece out of the burger and ate it. It had no flavor at all, other than the bit of ketchup on it.

I liked the pickles. They weren't fast-food norm pickles (thicker, less floppy). I also like the idea of mustard on a burger. It was about the only thing in the sandwich with flavor, other than the ketchup. Those are the only two things I did like.

If I had paid for the burger, it would have been $4. Even if you like McDonald's burgers, I cannot see this thing as having been worth $4. Honestly? I wouldn't eat another free one. It wasn't worth the calories, however many were in there. (Edit: Holy fuck. That damned burger was 790 calories. GAH.)

So, in closing:

Dear McDonalds,

Please do not send me another coupon for a free one, or any other new sandwich you come up with... not unless it has a reasonable amount of calories and tastes good.

Love,
Thistle
