When Reed and Clove were wee little alts, I picked a level 25 guild with a non-embarrassing name to join. Alas the run with them didn't last. I logged on today to find myself kicked out, all members were (a few hundred). Apparently the owner logged on, typed in all caps "I DON'T KNOW ANY OF YOU!" and kicked everyone.
My initial intent was to put guild chat in its own tab and ignore it, just ride the perks to 85, then I discovered I knew people in it. Jad and Justcallmefelix from the IC Twitter project. Suddenly I started talking to folks, and in a twist that always boggles me, people started liking me and I made friends.
Then poof! Gone. Blah. Some of the old people made a new guild, but of course it's level 1. I hate hate hate having to pick a guild based on level and perks, but I hate XPing even more... So I found a new one with a name I liked (Dragonfly) and got Reed and Clove into it. Unfortunately there seem to be fewer people in it, so eeeeek they all want to talk to me and they're nice but NEW PEOPLE EEK NERVOUS. I'm still not sure it's the right decision, maybe I should have gone with friends instead, but I'm only on the alts a half-hour or so a day, so I suppose it's okay.
In other less than happy news, I spent the entire night questing. UGH. Even though it was BC level stuff on my 85 alt, I hated every moment of it. Not to mention, I died once. One of the quest took me into slabs to kill the second boss there. Little did I know that if you don't kill everything else in the room first, it all mobs you. 85 vs a level 70 elite mob? No problem! 85 vs dozens of level 70 elite mobs? SPLAT. Anyway, eventually I finally got the staff I wanted for transmogging,
Wildcaller. Only after I spent three hours on it, did I realize that the other color of it,
Fleshling Simulation Staff, is actually nicer. I have the blue one on Keen, but it took many hours to get, so I'm not going to redo it on Thistle.
An issue with transmogging is that your enchant still shows, so now I have a black paw on a stick... that glows red. I'm thinking of putting a lesser enchant on it just to get rid of the glow.

"Pick me! Pick me! I know the answer!"
Unfortunately, as you can't transmog cross-type (plate to mail to leather), I didn't actually get to do too much of it. Haken got his whole outfit done, but he wasn't exactly lacking for space. Thistle, who is, only got two or three pieces done.
blightheart linked me to Haken's old blog,
haken_the_dk which on some level I recalled existing, but I hadn't looked at it in many, many months. I read a couple posts, and it's been long enough that I forgot them -- it was like reading something not written by me. On one hand, I'd like to sit down and read the whole thing from beginning to end, I bet it would be interesting (and perhaps embarrassing), but on the other... I'm kind of worried about waking his voice up in my head. Sleep, Haken, be happy living in Northrend with Morn and the wolves and Dragon and their collection of books and animals and such.
