Some comment I read somewhere said the first book had been made into a movie, so it could be. I had actually thought these were typical bad Syfy channel movie-type stories, so I was surprised when the first one was serious and good.

I guess the real scientific names would make less good titles. :P Gastornis and Entelodont.
