So behind... Quickie WoW post and kitty post

WoW #1 thing:

4.1: Dungeon Finder: Call to Arms. Any role in need (read: tanks) will now "receive a goodie bag that will contain some gold, a chance at a rare gem, a chance at a flask/elixir (determined by spec), a good chance of receiving a non-combat pet (including cross faction pets), and a very rare chance at receiving a mount. The pets offered come from a wide variety of sources, and include companions like the Razzashi Hatchling, Cockatiel, and Tiny Sporebat, but the mounts are those specifically only available through dungeons (not raids), like the Reins of the Raven Lord from Sethekk Halls, Swift White Hawkstrider from Magister's Terrace, and Deathcharger's Reins from Stratholme."

This makes me wish I had a tank (free pets! free mounts! so totally unfair!), but even more makes me happy I never ever random instance (you thought tanks were entitled pricks before?).

WoW #2: I noticed that Cata turned me into a mouse-turner, and my wrist/hand does not thank me for that. Using a keyboard has always been basically impossible when swimming/flying, and since I mostly only fly now... If I'm not careful with how I position my hand, all my fingers go numb in minutes. Fun times!

Kitty bit: Ellie got out of my apartment last night! PANIC! EEK! I have a 6 foot high fence around my porch, but it's made of wood and would be easy as heck for a cat to scramble right over. Luckily I herded her back inside before she realized it. She's so fast and sneaky! She slipped out while I was going in. I have to be so careful, because if she gets out of my porch area I'll never catch her. D:

I don't know what they are thinking with the Call to Arms. Cause 80% of the time the call will be for Tanks and the other 20% will be for healers (varying wildly by battleground, naturally).

I still won't change my off spec back to tanking. And it won't entice me to suffer verbal abuse and rage-kicks when groups think the healer is at fault no matter what. Shiny pixelated mounts and pets will never be greater than my own mental health.

Yeah. I collect pets and mounts, but even if I had a tank it wouldn't be worth pugging to get them.

Wow, that actually seems interesting. I wonder how long before they change it so anyone can get it. I mean, I can see the people with 3 DD trees (mages, hunters, rogues, I think there were more can't remember) bitching about this because a DD will never be a "needed job" on WoW. They are freaking everywhere because like 50% of the WoW populace can barely handle basic DPS functions. The people with the triple trees (Druids, Paladins) will be in love with this cause it will just be "Oh, tanks are needed *switch spec*" and then if after the dungeon is suddenly like healers are needed it's just another switch away. Bah I say bah!

The fun will come in when the hybrids who never tanked (or healed) before will switch because they want the goodie bag. I'm expecting lots more ranting posts about sucky heals/tanks!

Still not enough for me to ever ever tank a pick up group again. The amount of flat out abuse that people dish out to tanks is astounding. I've had almost no issues as a damage or even healing class, but about a third of the time tanking, someone would launch into personal attacks, until I said, "Never Again!"

[identity profile] wow-hazmat.livejournal.com 2011-04-07 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Seen a lot more entitled DPS than entitled tanks. :/

[identity profile] giftofarthas.livejournal.com 2011-04-07 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
This. When someone's being abusive with me in a group 9 times out of 10 it's a dickbag dpser giving me grief. (Usually because I couldn't heal them due to their own stupidity and they're mad at me.)

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2011-04-07 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, I'm not at all saying that DPS aren't a big part of the cause. The cycle of blame goes like this:

Bliz: No more WotLK! People will have to do their jobs!
DPS: lol cc iz 4 noobs
*wipe*
DPS: *blames tank*
Tank: ...the hell with this.
DPS: *now has 45 minute queue*
Blizz: HI TANKS HAVE SOME CANDY

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2011-04-07 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, DPS are far, far, far from blameless in this. The whole thing has become one big finger-pointing exercise. I'm glad I'm not involved!

[identity profile] veloxe.livejournal.com 2011-04-07 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
1) It's always the healers fault! How come they can't heal me through my stupid decisions! Get better gear n00bs!

2a) It's always the tanks fault! How come they couldn't hold threat on 12 mobs with 3 DPS hitting different mobs!

2b) It's always the tanks fault! How come they can't not take any damage so that my shitty ass healing skills (which I'm only using for faster queues) can actually get us through this dungeon!

3) *Vote to kick shitty DPS* *vote passes* *new DPS joins*

Ha! Yes.

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2011-04-07 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, which is why they need to do this in the first place. It'd be nice if they went after the root cause instead of applying a bandaid like this.

So, um, this is completely random and non-related to your post... but I wanted to show you this and I'm too lazy to make a filter for it on my own LJ (I just... don't want to potentially offend other people on my list).

Anyway! This may or may not be true, but I've seen the same article up a few places and I thought it was adorable and wanted to pass it on.

Ha! That's great. :D

Tiberius always tried to run outside whenever the door was opened. We have a dog, so the door is opened at least 3 times a day (for dog walking).

Then came the snow. A bit over a foot of snow. Tiberius saw his chance and ran outside...made it about a foot. Then stood covered in snow crying his head off. He wouldn't move, so I had to go pick him up. He hasn't tried to escape since. We've left the door open for hours before. He looks outside, but will not venture out.

That's handy! Now, if only it ever snowed here. :P

Now and then I stand outside with a squirt bottle and leave the door open a bit. Whenever her head sticks out, I spray it. Hopefully she'll eventually learn!
