"But do not forget what we cannot forgive"

I need more time to watch movies... I still haven't watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and now I really, really want to watch Lion King and Lion King 2 again, too.

Tonight's RP kept triggering (if that word can be used this way) Disney songs. It started with one character saying 'we are one', and the Lion King 'We Are One' song started playing in my head (which is odd, because I didn't even remember the song or how it went, but when the character said the phrase, the whole song just started playing). Following a link from there, I got to Not One Of Us. Wow, what a powerful song! I kind of remember LK2 not being so good, but if this song is any indication, I'm remembering totally wrong.

(Song starts at a minute in.) Watching that makes me miss Lion King RP (and it's been 15+ years since Lion King MUCK!). Huh, wow, looks like the MUCK is still up and running. Must resist!

Then of course we got to I Just Can't Wait To Be Lich King, and things really took off. :D

In less cheerful news (or more, depending), I can't believe that archaeology was nerfed again, and another major one. "Archaeology leveling speed was also increased, now granting 5-9 fragments per dig. The number of fragments required to solve an artifact has also been decreased slightly." I don't know why they don't just give out a Professor title to anyone who opens the profession. Old rant, I know. I try to resist, but it makes me all grrrrr. Just give me a sign that reads 'I did this when it was hard' and I'd be happy. :P

On a very related note, FFXI still haunts me (in a bad way). I went into the new Darkmoon Faire expecting it to be horrible, painful, hours upon hours of boring, hard dailies. Even with the first-day rush, I finished everything on a lowbie alt in less than an hour. Not bad at all! I wish I could get the lessons FFXI taught me out of my head. WoW is different!

...no, don't ask me to explain how I can be against archaeology nerfs after that paragraph. I don't understand my head either. Even news of the fishing nerf annoyed me, and I don't even like skilling fishing!

Hmm, strange that I have no Disney icons.

Oh my god. Mentioning The Lion King MUCK makes me feel old as hell. Especially since you said it's been 15+ years. Let me just crawl into this corner and weep for my long-gone, sorely missed childhood. XD

TLK2 was bad in the way that Disney sequels usually are, however their soundtrack has a few decent songs. 'Zira's Lullaby' is no 'Be Prepared', but as far as singing about murder and betrayal goes, it's pretty neat. XD I'm also rather fond of 'Not One of Us' and 'He Lives in You'. They even adapted 'He Lives in You' for the Broadway play (which also has an amazing soundtrack, of course!)

Now I want to go watch Hunchback because of 'Hellfire'. X3

You have very good taste in songs! :D I love Hellfire, that's the biggest reason I want to watch Hunchback again (that whole storyline).

I had all the soundtracks, including the "music inspired by..." ones, all on cassette tape. Heh. I doubt I have them around anymore, but even if I did, how could I play them!

Did you play on Lion King MUCK? I had when the game first opened, but I was an embarrassingly bad RPer back then.

Yep! I played there for a little bit. It was kind of nuts how big it was! And I was always making the non-popular species to try to be original and then getting all FFFF when they didn't get much RP. XD

I was pretty bad RPer too. I didn't actually start making sense until I started playing on smaller games. I was on a Jack London-based one for awhile which was epic and then a "multiverse" type called Crossroads that did Lion King and Balto. Actually, I was on a few that did Balto. That whole Yukon/Alaska RP thing with wolves and dogs was incredibly popular. O_o;

Hm. I feel like I know Crossroads. The name rang a serious bell.

Oh yeah, I remember how popular Balto was! So many new MUCKs opened and then closed based on it.

I had been a cheetah on Lion King MUCK, though I recall mostly hanging out with the lions, so I got plenty of RP. Even though I was an EVIL cheetah, trying to kill the king's cubs.

:O Really? I was a wizard on Crossroads for awhile. Also the other Yukon/Balto game was Yukon Trails. So much dramaz.

In Crossroads' newb days it had many mini-realms inside it. It had Alaska, Rocky Mountains, Africa, and Australia altogether, I think. Then it downsized to be just African and Alaskan and then at the end we added the Amazon. Which was thrilling because for years I tried to get an Amazon MUCK together but didn't have a programmer, so this was the next best thing. Plus the programmer we had invented this innovative way to construct multi-leveled rooms so you could RP as a monkey in the canopy of a tree and hear people who were technically on the ground without having to type in your post "The monkey is in the tree". XD

That sounds really familiar, though I don't recall what character I played there.

It was such a pain to find coders! Eventually I learned myself, when the game we founded lost ours. I'm sure my code was god-awful, but it worked.

Yeah, I remember either doing that or trying to do that, too. I suspect that was an idea we gave up on because I couldn't make it work... (Though I think we were trying to make things heard in an object instead of a room... but I think all rooms were objects? My brain! This was all so long ago.)
