The daily not-a-daily Stardew Valley post
Once more behind the cut. Short and sweet. A sad lack of screenshots.
Farming is my least favorite part of the game thus far (other than making friends with people). I think my sprinkler isn't working (the 8-square one, not the basic 4-square one). It doesn't seem to water anything. Life is too short to water crops with a watering can.
Current big/long term goal: Fish up the special sword. I enjoy mining/fighting critters, but my sword isn't so good.
Haken named his chickens: Chicken, Hen, Bird, and Rooster (the hen). Naming the rest of his animals is going to be fun.
kelen's idea to spread the machines out was a good one. Also, two forges are much better than one, especially when you have things like gold bars to make...
Wish I had more time for mining, but my time (energy!) right now is split between fishing on rainy days and clearing my land on sunny ones.
- Upgraded my house, and learned why I hadn't previously been able to figure out how to cook. Yay a kitchen!
- Built a chicken coop. Next coop is being built now (ducks I think?).
- Biggest challenge of the game thus far: Finding Marnie actually working at the ranch so I could buy animals.
- Got a spiffy ring from a fish: It's like a flashlight in a ring, keeps an area around me bright at night/in caves.
- Caught a legendary fish (no idea what to do with it. I dropped it into storage. Hope it won't rot or something.)
- Fruit bats moved into the cave on my property. Haken would approve.
- Bees made honey. Have not seen a bee yet.
- Bought two hats from the hat mouse. I'd like my money back. They look horrible on Haken.
- When attending a luau, apparently it's not recommended to add seaweed to the communal soup. (Sorry everyone.)

I will totally get a chicken coop next though, and upgrade the house after that! I chose the mushroom option for the cave, and then forgot I did that, and didn't actually check for mushrooms for like, several days, but now I have mushrooms! YAY! Also I spiled a lot of trees.
I still can't get in Marnie's freaking house because I missed her birthday BECAUSE I WENT TO THE PUB TO FIND HER AND ELLIOT CAME IN AND GOT ME DRUNK BECAUSE HE IS SUPER INTO ME. He likes lobsters, and I get a lot of lobsters in my crab pot so I'm all here you go dude and he's like ALI YOU ARE SO GREAT YOU BRING ME LOBSTERS.
Also I got into Sebastian's room and found out why he is emo, I would be emo too if my mother called me Sebby WHEN OBVIOUSLY BASTIAN IS THE ONLY PROPER NICKNAME FOR A SEBASTIAN.

A good way to tell if they are working is to open up a spot (With the hoe) near them that is out of reach. The difference is dirt, wet and dry, is really clear. :)
Got my first Dinosaur egg just a couple days ago. So thrilled! They are useless, but adorable, so I made a new coop just for them.
Am hating the slime hutch. Got a ton of purple slimes in it and not sure what to do with them. Kill them for loot? I don't need anything. Bah.

Ooooh dinosaur egg! I didn't even know those were in the game. Fun!
Yeah, I saw the slime hutch, but I wasn't really that eager for it. Maybe it's for people who don't mine/adventure? So they can get meat/slime too?

Yeah, the dino egg is an artifact. :) Just don't give it to Gunther, no matter what it says. Pop it in an incubator, and then give the second egg the little Dino gives you to Gunther. After that you can breed them if you want, or sell the eggs. They have no real use at this point.
Oh, there's a secret area above the wizard. Go to the left of the traveling vendor, and there's a big log to cut down. Past that is an area with respawning hardwood. You can get 12 hardwood a day there, along with foragables.

Oooh thanks for the hint about the area! I still haven't seen the traveling vendor, though now I'll have a better chance of catching him. Last night I gave in and started using the 'teleport' feature of that cheat. It's not that I minded walking so much as I have no sense of direction and I'm endlessly lost and having to stop and look at my map. (I knew that cheat was going to be a slippery slope for me...)
With fishing, money never seems to be an issue anymore. I hit level 10 yesterday, so that's nice.
Good to know about the slimes dropping iridium! I wondered where that came from. Most of my ores come from fishing, other than copper. I haven't gotten very deep into the mines yet.

Iridium comes from the skull dungeon. Once you reach the bottom of the mine you'll get a key to the skull area. However, you must unlock the bus repair at the community center to reach said area. Bus goes to the desert, which has a shop to the south, and the dungeon area to the north, left.
Good about fishing! :) You sound like you are making real progress.

Ah ha! I'm far from the bottom of the dungeon. I think level 5 is the lowest I've gotten. I think later in the game I'll have more time to do that, once my land is all settled and needs just maintenance instead of outright clearing.
I really, really want the horse! That's a long way off though. I'm already looking at new skin options for it. :P

I thought about mushrooms, but since I like going mining, I figured maybe I'd find them there. Plus I read that the fruit from the bats (fruit bats, HEE!) help you fill out those bundles faster (at the community center), so I went with those. Plus Haken would totally like bats better than mushrooms.
I can't get into any houses/rooms yet! Arg, I just don't care about relationships. I'm still only at two hearts (one heart level for each of twp people) total. So much to do and not enough time to do it!
Gah! Sebby is THE WORST! Bastian rocks. You and I can call him Bastian when we're married, DEAL?
