I put the 'fantasy' into Final Fantasy games (happy thing #4)

Most people playing male characters won't wear subligar (armor that looks like panties), even if the stats are better. I proudly wear them, and the women thank me.



I love how I seem to be thrusting my hips out at her... *rolls*

So Happy Thing #4 is men who aren't afraid to run around in panties FFXIV. I played for nearly twelve hours total today, way way way more than I intended. XIV isn't a clone of my beloved XI, but that's actually a good thing (see also: I had fun). XIV is such a nice game -- easy enough not to be frustrating but interesting enough to not at all be boring. Beautiful graphics (I can barely stand to look at WoW now), tons of cutscenes, and the quests so easily feed from one into the next -- it's so hard to stop playing! I swas smiling so much today.

I can never go back to FFXI, but FFXIV is familiar enough that it feels like an acceptable substitution.

I have! It's so nice! Easy and quick XPing. Things like cooking don't even require you to ever leave the shop (though I'm only level 12 so far). Fishing is so nice! Just one button to cast and one button to pull it in -- none of the active fighting like in FFXI. Gathering crafts are great -- at level 8 you get endless stealth, so you can fish or gather near aggro mobs and not have to deal with them.

The only downside to them is how distracting they are. I hit 15 on my main yesterday (to open airship travel to the other starter cities) and have been doing nothing but crafting since!

When I first started, I tried crafting and got hooked. It was goldsmithing though, which turns out was kinda useless for me. Am Bard main, should've been carpenter. Only trouble is, crafts all interconnect. Use blacksmithing to make Carpenting tools, etc.

I had to take some time off the game due to a major push at work, as I periodically do. I just reinstalled (rebuilt my computer in the interim) and spent most of the weekend looking forward to logging some more time.

If you're on Balmung, look up Nilych. Happy to feed you any goldsmithing-produced items I can make, and help run instanced dungeons (which the story will force you to do).

The outfit got even worse when the top was replaced with a harness and the headpiece was upgraded to an eyepatch. Poor Thistle looked like he was on the losing end of a bad S&M scene.

Also, I'd really, really like to know how an eyepatch makes one better at archery.

I guess I am the polar opposite. I refuse to wear subligaria on any character. And I am always looking for a decent pair of pants.

Come to think of it, "FINAL FANTASY XI - The Quest for Pants" sounds about just right. (The same could be said of FFXIV, if some of the things I've heard are true.)

You're so right about the lack of pants! The starting armor in XIV looks so nice... then every upgrade is just god awful. At one point I (an archer) looked like I was walking around wrapped from neck to toe in a green quilt. That my head was exposed was important, because my green eyepatch was then visible.

Ha! That's a great name!

And yeah, the "smallclothes" option is really, really scanty. My character looks like he's barely a teenager, so it's a little uncomfortable seeing him so naked. (Every time you change jobs it strips you of your gear, so you see your character in their smallclothes a lot.)
