I put the 'fantasy' into Final Fantasy games (happy thing #4)

Most people playing male characters won't wear subligar (armor that looks like panties), even if the stats are better. I proudly wear them, and the women thank me.

So Happy Thing #4 is men who aren't afraid to run around in panties FFXIV. I played for nearly twelve hours total today, way way way more than I intended. XIV isn't a clone of my beloved XI, but that's actually a good thing (see also: I had fun). XIV is such a nice game -- easy enough not to be frustrating but interesting enough to not at all be boring. Beautiful graphics (I can barely stand to look at WoW now), tons of cutscenes, and the quests so easily feed from one into the next -- it's so hard to stop playing! I swas smiling so much today.

I can never go back to FFXI, but FFXIV is familiar enough that it feels like an acceptable substitution.

I'd be happy to help. My LS is usually on the ball to help people too -- they're mostly people I knew from XI.

Honestly the dungeons aren't bad. There's usually 1 gimmick to learn for the boss fight, and though there's a time limit, they're all so quick that it is really maybe a 20-30min thing (at least so far, I'm only lv37).

Oooh, you have the coeurl mount! Envy! Wish it didn't come from the CE, it's my favorite mount I've seen so far in game. (Nightmare is spiffy, but I'm not intending to endgame at all, so that's out.)

Is there a game-benefit to joining a LS or FC? An XP bonus or anything? (Other than social/having people to chat with.)

There are benefits to a FC, yes. FC is what a Guild is in most other games, where a LS is more like just a chat channel. FC has guild bank, some random bonuses chosen by leadership (changes periodically), and though I just rejoined I think FC is tied to housing? something like that.

Hmmm, okay. Maybe I'll give it a try then. There's one around called Scourge, which would amuse me since WotLK was my favorite WoW expansion.

I am somewhat tempted to roll a character on Balmung for shenanigans, but I should probably spend my FFXIV time actually working on Cydori. ^_^;

Cydori's on Excalibur since she's a Legacy character, and Excal happens to be the most crowded of all the servers. ^^; So it would be much easier for me to make one on Balmung to come hang with you on occasion. (Another Legacy perk is that I get a bunch of characters for free, more or less.) I just wouldn't be around quite as often as if it were my main character.
