Zzzzzz

It's just after 8 AM on Monday morning. Too early to already have lists.

Good things
Had to go to the lab to get blood drawn. Oftentimes, even though I go before 8, the place is packed. Today I was the only person there! Got in and out in less than 15 minutes.

It's raining. Yay! We need rain.

The weekend was lovely. 71 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday. Had the windows open all weekend. Darned cat scratched the screen on one. We don't own the apartment, cat! Stop damaging it!

Bad things
Slept less than four hours last night. Ugh. I have a "tired headache" (in the past year or so I started getting odd headaches when I don't sleep enough).

Driving to the lab and then to work in the dark. Ugh. The rain didn't help. I don't mind coming home from work in the dark, but driving to it before the sun rises is just depressing.

Toe is worse. Have to call and make an appointment when the office opens. This is part of the reason why I slept so little -- took more than two hours to fall asleep because my brain wouldn't stop running through all the possible bad toe-related outcomes, everything from returning to the hospital to them having to cut my toe off (stupid, stupid brain).

Non-List things

Three weeks ago, they did a culture on my toe. There were two antibiotics that would work on the infection. They gave me one of them, and apparently it didn't work. What will they do if the other one doesn't as well? Cut my toe off?

Don't know enough about the infection, but they won't amputate unless the whole thing is a loss and they worry about it spreading. As my scars can testify - usually they'll just ice-cream-scoop the infected area. Takes a while to heal and you end up with bad scarring (my wife muses that I look like I was tortured as a kid because of my scars)...But less pain, less worry, and still functioning appendage? Worth it.

Also: Silly cats. My cat recently Ventured Into The Outside. He is not allowed out. For years we taught him No Going Outside by throwing him into the snow...we only got 1 snow this winter and we missed the opportunity. I'm hoping the bath that followed his adventure will stick with him.

Yeah, I figured amputation was probably not really on the table. Like you said, that would make a bigger wound that would need to heal. I really, really hope the second antibiotic works -- I don't want them cutting a chunk out of my toe! And that would take forever to heal...

I bet tossing your cat into the snow would work! Luckily so far Ellie has had no interest in going out the door... just out the windows. I can't really blame her though, we're on the ground floor and birds/squirrels come right up to the window. It drives her crazy.

Oh, come on, do you really need ten toes? Isn't that overkill? Lots of animals have fewer. And maybe you could get it replaced with titanium - that would be cool!

Ha! With a titanium I could be a superhero! Just like Toe-ne Stark!

I love how your cat is just as horrible as mines :D
Do you also just get the blank look? "But I live here."

More like she doesn't look at me. "BUT! BUT! BIRDS! RIGHT THERE! *tail lashes* "

Hope the toe thing goes well!

Thanks, me too!

What's the bug in your toe? Sorry it's still haunting you!

Some kind of an infection, though now and then I do worry it might be a real bug. :P

Oh, you had rain today? It's still sun and warmth in the City, but I wonder if we'll be getting it tonight...

Sorry to hear about the continued trouble with the toe... I hope the last antibiotic works!

(And I hear you on the <4 hours of sleep, although mine are purely my own fault.)

Early this morning, yep! Light rain from 7-8 (not sure before or after that window, but my windshield wipers were on while I was driving then).

And thanks! Me too.

What is it with cats and fly screens? Little dears!

Hope the toe appointment goes well.

*hugs*
