Quickie post, since this is a busy work day, but this wasn't announced in the LJ News feed and it looks like good news:

By way of kishenehn by way of songdogmi: Livejournal gets a new CEO.

The new CEO used to work at Google, Microsoft, and other big name tech companies, and doesn't want LJ to become another tumblr. Sounds like this could be a good thing!

Edit: tedwords reports that his book, Pictures of You, is free on Amazon the next five days. My review of it here.

I hope it's good news. I am so fed up with people slagging LJ off. I hope it's around for a good many years to come.

Huh, well, I can't say the homepage redesign (and lack of news announcement, and buggy/mysterious option for switching back) is an auspicious beginning, but I'm all for anything that preserves the functionality that differentiates LJ from tumblr/facebook and injects some life into it again. Fingers crossed, I guess?

Yeah, I was thinking of the change as well, but at least we have an option to use the old style and no word that it's only good for a limited time.

"Fingers crossed" is my best feeling for it. Hopeful, but not confident.
