TV, movies, RP

Community: I loved every episode of the first season, and disliked every episode of the second. I don't know what happened to the show then (or was it me?). I'm back to loving the third season though, so that's good.

Especially in the second season, I'm really, really not liking Pierce anymore. In the second season, he was just plain mean. It might not have been so bad if I were seeing an episode per week, but seeing multiple in a day? I wanted to hit him in the back of the head with a shovel. Forget mean, he was downright evil at times. The third season he seems back to non-evil again, so I no longer spend each episode hoping he'll vanish from the show.

I'm watching the Glee episode now and it's killing me. :D

Captain America: Winter Soldier: I'm always one of the last people to see movies, mostly because I hate going to the theater to see them. A number of non-spoiler thoughts:

1) I hate tumblr sometimes. Okay, most of the time. Mostly I avoid the site, but now and then I get bored and check it. One of the times I visited was right after Winter Soldier came out. Tumblr was in a frothing rage at how little Black Widow was in it. "Marvel is running a war on women!" and other such lovely comments. Based on that, I expected her to be mostly just a walk-on role, maybe a few minutes of screentime. But nope, it was just Tumblr being its usual SJW batshit insane self. She was a main character! Did she have a larger role than Captain America? Nope, but his name is in the title. Might someone fairly want to see more of her? Sure, of course. But she was not "barely" in the movie! Grrr.

2) I should have seen it sooner. I wish I had more time, because there are so many fics that I now must read. I love plots with all that stuff that was going on to make the Winter Soldier what he was. (Vague to avoid spoilers.)

3) I had more than a couple periods of being bored, but all in all, the scenes with Winter Soldier made up for them. I especially LOVED the last hidden scene after the credits.

RP: I can't believe how much I roleplayed today. Usually I do one scene that lasts an hour or two. Today I played all day. I know I've said this before, but it's so nice to be getting back to it! I haven't gone a day without RP for a while now! (Except one, by choice, because I needed a break.)

All in all, a good weekend!

What system do you rp? I can't remember....

Currently I'm RPing on the MMO I play on (FFXIV). In the past I've RPed on everything from text-based games to IM programs.

Cool, I still play in a chatroom old World of Darkness game.

WoD was one of my first online RP games! Which one do you RP? Or is it all of the WoD worlds mixed together?

[identity profile] ghost-light.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Changeling. I love it so.

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the one I know the least about. I played in the Garou one, though we crossed over with other games. Not sure if it was some or all other WoD games; we never had any vampires, but we did have a werebird. Though, now that I think about it, the werebird was probably part of the Garou section of things...

It's pretty much the only one I've played, besides a horrible Mage experience.

Yeah those SJW's are something else. (Insane in the membrane, I would like to say except... you know. Instant dogpile.) But anyway! Yes! Winter Soldier was pretty darn good, wasn't it? In fact, seeing this post reminded me I never posted my WS fic on LJ. haha. So thanks for that.

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
HOW DARE YOU USE THE WORD 'INSANE'! ABLEIST! RACIST! (I swear, someone went off on me for ten minutes and then defriended me because I used 'insane' once. Insane!)

Luckily AO3 sends me notifications when fics update. I filter them into a gmail folder so I don't lose track of them. Sometimes I'm really, really late in reading (*SOB!*), but I can look longingly at all the emails and know good stuff is waiting for me as soon as I have time. (Plus I marked a ton of WS fics 'to read later', so I have those to look forward to, too.)

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww. That's a good thing to do. I have zero self control, so when a notification comes in I *have* to read asap. haha.

Yeah, I used to really worry about what SJW's would think of me. Because if you misstep, it would be instantly the end of (sometimes a long) friendship. Then slowly came to realize... I don't want such toxic people in my life anyway. So I stopped caring and I actively stepped back from people who languaged policed for minor stuff. I'm much happier.

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, totally agreed. Some things bother me (like using gay to mean bad), but the minor stuff? Who expects the world to change based on what they think is right or wrong? Oh wait, SJWs!

Haha, I wish I could credit self control! It's more about lack of time.

Maaan, I've been on Tumblr for over a year now, and generally the only time I see people going overboard with the social justice stuff it's someone /else/ linking or screenshotting it in a 'WTF' kind of way.

I mostly chalk it up to a lot of Tumblr users being young -- teens and early twenties. It's easier to see the world in black and white and absolutes when you're that age, easier to be all radical and RAAR, easy to see people who don't agree with you as The Other (tm).

It's annoying because it kind of distracts from people actually talking about social issues (kinda the way PETA fucks up issues of animal mistreatment) and can turn possible allies off, but on the whole, I still prefer Tumblr's population overall than Reddit's.

(Though my Reddit experience improved immensely when I ditched most of the default subreddits, including and especially AdviceAnimals.)

Anyway, Tumblr's an awesome blogging platform for art, IMO! And I love the Dashboard and the general silliness that goes on there, too. Also, it's what got me back into reading Homestuck after I'd given up on it wayyyyyy back when it first started out. And a bunch of my classmates are on it, too, so. :)

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, somehow I fell into a bad area in tumblr? Or something, I've heard other people say they don't encounter the endless social justice crap that I do. I try to follow people only for art/fandom/gaming stuff, but it seems like everyone posts what I like AND the SJW crap.

And agreed, I think that's exactly the reason why it's like that there -- the users are generally young and raging against the machine.

Maybe I need to unfollow everyone I know there and start over. (Or unfollow people when they post even one SJW thing.) Heh. I should put "know" in quotes in that first sentence; if I originally knew who someone I follow was, I'm so inactive on the site I've long since forgotten.

Yeah, Black Widow was basically the co-star, she was there all the time.

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. Like I said, if she's your favorite and you hoped for even more, I don't have a problem with you. However, if you claim she "was barely in the movie at all", I'd respectfully suggest that you need a brain glasses.

[identity profile] adam-0oo.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, when I came out I said "Now I finally understand why they can never make a Black Widow movie..." all sarcastically like. That could have been a Black Widow movie, with some modifications.

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, for sure. Like you said, she was a co-star. She was a main character.

I just don't get people sometimes.
