That's it, Game of Thrones, get into the corner with The Walking Dead

Spoilers for tonight's episode. Brief. Annoyed.

I knew it. I knew it would happen. I knew it. Of course Jon Snow isn't dead. I am so very very sick of this whole "He's dead! Be sad! He's dead for sure! ...no wait he's alive! FOOLED YOU!" crap.

Walking Dead pulled it too often. Now GoT.

I'd be pissed off instead of annoyed, if I liked the show more.

Mumble grumble.

Haha and I say the opera isn't over until the fat lady sings. The central question hovering over GoT is still unanswered, who are his parents? And that Melisandre apparently woke him up is MUCH too easy for this complex show. I can almost hear the producers chuckling because they played the "Melisandre will resurrect him" crowd, but there's a catch and a hook in that bait. I can't wait to see what it is.

I had a small hope that something would go wrong and he'd wake up as a White Walker (that would have been cool! I'd be okay with that!), but nope, no blue eyes.

Unfortunately I don't care at all who his parents are. I don't like the character at all (leftover reaction from the books, I think), so I couldn't care less about his past.

No, I didn't think he'd end up as a White Walker, that wouldn't work at all. I still think there's a catch here though, and that next episode it'll turn out he didn't simply "wake up", but I can't imagine what it is.

I like him, but either way, his parentage is important to the entire plot and conclusion, so it matters overall.

I hope you're right, that he's not going to be back 100% as his old self. I'd be more okay with that.

I doubt he will be, and I think we might be in for a surprise next episode. Melisandre "awakening" him? MUCH too easy!

It's been a fairly well-accepted obvious next step amongst the book-readers for a while. GRRM hung the Chekhov's gun on the wall back with Thoros resurrecting Beric multiple times.

(Oops, hit send too early!) So for me it was like "oh finally!" lol. :)

While I own all the books, I don't think I can count myself as a book reader anymore. I read and enjoyed the first few, but while I bought all the rest, I lost interest in them. I never even finished the latest one (5?). In a way it's good, it's making a lot of the show seem new to me!

I started to loose interest in GoT when I realized it was going to have zombies in it. I don't know why, but zombies always loose me. I just don't want to watch/read a zombie story. I'm still following along for the dragons, though! (Never made it thru book 5)

Agreed. I've never been a zombie fan. I enjoyed Walking Dead for a while because the characters were interesting (until the writers made them too stupid to live for drama purposes). I bought the last book (5, right?) but I didn't come close to making it through it either.

I did enjoy the dragon plotline last night! That might have been my favorite thing in the whole series so far!

People thought he was really forever dead? Please! That's too easy. The roaming theory is that he's the rightful heir to the iron throne, and that this exact thing would happen (I haven't seen the episode yet, I assume Melisandre resurrected him? Did she do a weird thing with his jizz or her boobs or something?).
Also, is it just me, or has the writing really gone off the deep end? Not so much general plot, but dialog-wise...

HAHAHAH you know this show too well! She just chanted, but your description would have fit so much better.

I had a feeling he wasn't dead, or at least not off the show (he could be UNDEAD LOL). I'm happy they didn't drag that out any longer. Wonder what his deal will be - amnesia? was he in heaven/hell? does anyone really want to be friends with an undead Jon Snow after all of this fuss?

Honestly, nothing in this week's episode surprised me once I saw them set up certain scenes. Ramsey learning his Dad had a new son...he's insane of course he's going to be all stabby! (and why was his Dad dumb enough to get so close????). I am worried about Theon though. :(

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2016-05-05 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I think Theon is the character I care most about, at this point. Which is odd, I really shouldn't, but I do. He seems the most interesting, has the most potential right now...

I really don't get why Ramsey's dad let him near him either. He should have put him down at that point.

I was hoping Jon would be undead, but his eyes weren't that bright blue. (Now that I think about it, they should have hidden that fact for the week, shown his eye color next week. It would have been a good cliffhanger.)

[identity profile] orangerful.livejournal.com 2016-05-05 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Theon went from being a loser to totally despicable to someone I just feel very sorry for. I think that is one of the strengths of this show though, they make you feel sorry for people who have done awful things. And Theon has suffered a LOT since he did the atrocious things and even worse has been done to him so it's like it balances out ... but not really LOL. I dunno.

I really hope Ramsey doesn't survive this season if only because his character is now just over-the-top ridiculous in I AM EVIL stance. Like, he has NO chance at any kind of redemption. When Joffrey hit that point, he had to die.

GOOD POINT! Though not everyone probably noticed/realized that.

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2016-05-05 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. He did bad things, really bad (murder), but he had some darned bad things happen to him in return (torture). And he's trying to act better now, which means something.

They would have had to do a flashback to that scene with the baby, to remind people about the blue eyes.

I'll be surprised if Ramsey is killed off. I think the show will want to keep him around for people to hate. (Though they did kill off Joffrey...)
