Grrr, where's my book?

C'mon, Amazon and UPS, hurry! Seems like all of my flist has it (or has finished it!) already, and I want my copy, too. *sniffle*

I tried to do some FFXI stuff this morning, but it didn't go overly well. Bored. I tried to dig (did two runs, 30 stacks each), but was bored out of my mind. Didn't feel like farming, nothing was going on on LS, so... logged off.

(The one exception to "didn't go overly well" was that I got the last piece of my RSE this morning. I had to get up at 7 AM to do it, but the chest was in the very first place I looked, so I got it in seconds. Too bad I can't go back to sleep once I'm awake! Wish I was able to nap...)

This G4 channel is doing a special on WoW, and it's made me peer so much. I don't get it at all, and the graphics still make me want to stab my eyes out with a fork, but there are a couple interesting looking things. I like that people can ride different things (like tigers and horses and stuff). It's depressing that everyone rides the exact same model chocobo in FFXI (other than size shifting for races). Maybe one day S-E will introduce something like chocobo breeding, so maybe there could be at least some color shifting or something... (Edit: Ha ha, G4 is recommending Alla as a good WoW site.)

Bah. Where's my book?

Yay! Got the book! (no spoilers)

Okay, actually I got it almost an hour and a half ago. Yay! It was supposed to come by UPS, but instead the mailwoman (USPS) brought it. Oddness!

Know those scans that were flaoting around the net before the book's release? Of the first chapter and pages from later chapters? I'm happy to see that they were all true scans, real spoilers. :) Guess the rest of the spoilers will be real, too!

I'm only up to chapter 4. I'm mostly enjoying the story, if not her writing. I haven't been sucked into the storyline yet though. Every few pages I find myself checking to see how far till the end of the chapter, so I can see the comments posted on [livejournal.com profile] hbp_chapters. (Great comm idea, by the way! I'm loving seeing what others think!)

I'm kind of sad that there's so much fic on the net (HP fanfic and The Admin) that I enjoyed more (and got hooked on way faster) than HBP. HBP isn't bad, I just expected to be hooked by the story way before now. Hopefully it will happen at some point...

Edit: Heeheehee! British people are so funny! Spoiler for a line on page 83, chapter 5... )

Bedtime for Thistles...

About 270 pages into HBP. Up to chapter 14.

Spoilers for nearly the first half of the book... or rather, mostly just chapter 13. )

Eh, okay, the cut bit is shorter than I thought it would be, but I should have been in bed a half hour ago. That's it reading for tonight; I'll continue reading it tomorrow (around FFXI stuff -- Sunday is a busy FFXI day), and likely finish it on Monday.

Still not loving the book to death (the darned thing reads like not-outstanding fanfic; if it wasn't canon, I would have stopped reading long ago), but liking it well enough to have spent much of the day reading it.
