PvP: Much better once I became a gay man (WoW)

So this morning, determined to not get annoyed at the people I was PvPing with, I decided to handle things another way. The first time someone said 'This is so gay', I jumped on it. I perked up, said I was in the right battleground, and made all sorts of comments turning it into something positive. I got very unexpected results.

Three different people /whispered me questions about being gay. Most were normal young people questions, but one guy had some really odd ideas:

He was under the assumption that all gay people are "active", so they don't like to sit at computers and play games. Hee.

I felt a little bad about this guy. He /whispered to me that I was being very brave, cool, and he really loved me "(like a brother)".

Sorry! I'm only a fake gay man! D:

Eventually I got tired of attempting to keep it up, but at least a good start made the rest of my day's PvPing easier to hold my tongue through.

PS: I now have the AB belt and boots for levels 28, 38, 48, and 58. I actually have enough marks of honor for the next tier, but I don't have the additional honor points so I can spend them. This weekend is AB's holiday weekend, but once that ends I'm going to have to switch to WG for a while. Ugh! I hate WG, but there's actually good things to get there too, plus there's a title if I get to exalted in all three BGs (WG, AV, AB). If WG rep comes at the same rate as AB, that's really a doable goal.

Rogue: 31.5. I really feel like I'm leveling slowly, but I think it might be in my head.

For all the kiddies and the idiots and the fools out there, most people are a lot more cool with the idea than you'd think. There's a sort of "cross-talk"; I think most teens these days are at the "I know gays exist, it's kinda weird and I don't understand it, but whatever, do your own thing" stage, which is quite superior to the "Homosexuality is JUST PLAIN WRONG".

Most of the people who make racist, sexist, or otherwise offensive remarks in PvP genuinely don't mean it. They just want to get a rise.

Also, WSG as a druid is wonderful - if you're resto. Resto druid flag-running can single-handedly save a match, but your team has to be at least decent. If they're better than decent, you can rule the world!

Answer: A gamer.

Better question: What the hell kind of stupid question is that?

Now: The good thing about battlegrounds, when it comes to venting, is that it combines players from multiple servers. The bad thing about battlegrounds is...it combines players from multiple servers.

Up side: Egg on this particular bigot's face and you never have to deal with them again if they take it personally

Down side: If you actually have made a positive impact in terms of discouraging people from using "gay" as a pejorative, you will never know it because they're not on your server.

I didn't realize you were in my Battlegroup. That Jaykiller guy is from my server. I'll have to see about doing some BGs if I find out you're doing them sometime. =p

You know, I've tried to figure out who you are as long as I've known you. It's a fun little mental game I play with my online friends; not real identity stuff like names/locations, but a round picture of what the friend is like in real life.

I've never been able to figure you out. You've been a challenge. I still can't tell if you're even male or female.

Yeah, I know you're right on most of that, it's just that at the time it's being said it's hard to remember... which is what they want out of me! :P

And as soon as this holiday weekend ends (tomorrow I guess), I think I'll be hitting up WSG for a long while. I need honor points badly, and I'm losing marks of honor (expiring in the mail) due to the lack of HP!

Yeah, exactly. Not that rep matters much in WoW anyway, but still there's the advantage/disadvantage of it being multiple servers.
