This weekend's movie is Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. If this movie did one thing, it demonstrated my lack of ability to turn my brain off. From the very first moments, it had me rolling my eyes. Five men shot, and not one drop of blood on their uniforms or the ground. Jones&company repeatedly shot at with machine guns and no one is ever hurt. Jones survives a nuclear blast by hiding in a refrigerator which flies a far distance through the air and he walks out of just fine. All this, and I'm only halfway through the darned movie.

As annoying as the movie is, last night was even less fun. I spent from 11 PM to 4 AM in the bathroom. Three times I tried to leave, but I didn't get more than a couple steps before I had to go back in. In the past I had thought I had food poisoning, but I think maybe this time I really did. I got only a couple broken hours of sleep last night, I feel so horrible now. Blah.

I forgot to do Nano Haiku yesterday. Oh well! I think 12 days in was about as far as I got with the 'month of RP questions' thing, too.

I should be sleeping
Awake, heart racing... dying?
Death better than work

I think I had my first panic attack last night. 2 AM, I jolted awake, heart pounding fast, panting, wide awake... and it didn't stop. More than an hour it went on, I was sure it was a heart attack but didn't call 911 because, in my 2 AM logic, dying seemed a better option than living and going to work the next day.

I'm so glad I don't agree with that now that I'm awake! Things are settling down, somewhat better than yesterday. Still hot as all hell here. Insane. It's too bad, as my old desk had the 100% perfect temperature all the time, year 'round.

Did you know panic attacks could be brought on by having tapeworms? I wasn't sure exactly what panic attacks involved, so I googled, and it seems to fit not just my current life, but my lifestyle as a whole (eh, except the tapeworms). I'm kind of surprised I haven't had one before now! I'm a serious stresspuppy, among other matching conditions/traits.

Even though I felt like crap (both legs and left arm felt like they had been punched all night -- what had I been doing in the bit of time I was asleep?! Plus my sleep was broken on either end of the 2 AM fun), I tried to exercise this morning, but gave up after about 15 minutes. I was too exhausted and hurting too much to finish. Blah.

Bombings? Torture? War?
Not low points of Bush's time.
"He called me a name!"

Former president Bush said the low point of his eight years in office was not starting a war, not ruining the economy, not torture, but when Kanye West implied he was racist.

"George Bush said Kanye West's comments were the low point of his presidency which ended after eight years in 2008."

Cooking chicken soup
Much harder than it should be
Second time: failure

Blah. Blah, I say! I'm not sure how chicken-in-stock can come out to be 'not soup', but somehow mine did. I'm not sure what makes soup soup, but 'meat and veggies in broth' doesn't always seem to make soup. Or at least, not good soup.

I didn't buy garlic because I had an open container of minced, an unopened container, and a vacuum-packed "fresh" pack of it. Somehow all three of them went bad, so I didn't have garlic for it. [livejournal.com profile] tersa had suggested thyme, which I had been certain I had, but I was wrong.

So the soup had chicken (breasts and drumsticks), a whole container of stock (store-bought), sauteed onions, and carrots. After six or so hours of cooking, I tasted it and added salt and garlic powder.

I think I give up on soup! I have some chicken breasts left, so next weekend I'll try something else.

--

I watched the movie 2012. The summer blockbuster about the world ending. It was an outstanding special effects movie, but a really bad movie. Stupid characters. The effects must have been something to watch on the big screen, but stupid characters acting stupid really take away a lot of the enjoyment. (Yes, after the entire world agrees to a plan, they ALL change it based on one character making a speech. ARG! *rips hair out*)

Chicken soup, try two!
Stock, meat (breasts and legs), carrots.
Question: What spices?

Tomorrow (eh, Saturday, I'm cheating and posting this a couple hours early) will be chicken soup attempt #2! KISS is the new rule for this! (Keep It Simple, Stupid!) Stock (store bought), meat, carrots (I failed to find a bag of the cut up mixed fresh stuff, so I got a bag of baby carrots). The question is, what kind of herbs/spices do I need to use? I have nothing fresh, but a good variety of things in a jar. Think it'll need salt, or will the stock be salty enough?

I'm going to wait until the end to see if I want to add noodles or not, since they took away from the first attempt.

I wonder if it would be too bland if I used only stock, meat, carrots? No random herbs?

(I don't actually like carrots, but it seems like just chicken cooked in stock isn't really soup.)

A blessing and curse
Netflix sending me movies
Red envelope waits

I love Netflix. I discovered Weeds through it, which is now one of my top most favorite shows ever. It's the movies mailed to you that's rougher for me. I try to watch one a weekend, but that's generally me having to make time to watch it. I know you can keep the movies as long as you like, but it seems kind of silly to keep the same one for a month and not even watch it.

I didn't watch a movie last weekend, so now this red envelope has been on my desk, waiting, watching me, staring at me, for two weeks now.

By mail it arrives
My personal stalker waits
On desk, next to me

The party of hate
Main goal: Defeat Obama
Congrats on your win...

At least in California, it was a good night. Republicans tried (and thankfully failed) to buy the state.

Carly Fiorina (former CEO of HP) spent $120 million of her own money to try to win a CA senate seat.

Meg Whitman (former CEO of eBay) spent $162 million of her own money to try to become governor of California.

Both lost.

People can spend their own money however the heck they want, but especially in Whitman's case, it really seemed she was just trying to buy her way in. She did not even vote in the last 25 years. She wasn't even registered to vote. And suddenly she wants to be governor?

Fiorina was anti-choice, which is a deal-breaker for me. If you don't believe in abortions, don't get one. If you don't believe in same-sex marriages, don't marry someone of the same gender. That these people think they can force their opinions onto others...

Haken the Death Knight
Likes origami, painting
and killing people

I had a surprisingly hard time with this one, and it's only the first day! This is sort of backwards how I wanted it to be, my first draft was opposite (Haken the DK / Kills women, children, kittens. / Happiest while painting), but the syllable count was off and I couldn't make it work. I wrote a couple others while trying to make the first one work, so I'll include them as well.

Haken the Death Knight
Kills women, children, kittens.
Alliance only.

Haken the Death Knight
Must be good, can't kill people
Reward: books and hugs
