Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tales

Know those historical reenactment sites? Popular destinations for school trips and family vacations? A woman who plays George Washington's slave at one site has started a web series about it.

At first I thought it would be serious -- facts about the time period and walk-throughs of her job. That would have been interesting, but what the series actually is is even better: She's collected the worst/funniest of the comments that visitors ask her and reacts to them.

This is episode one:


Unfortunately there are only three episodes so far.

What a great job something like that would be, sort of a mix of cosplaying, RPing, and educational. It would give you great practice at thinking on your feet, since you never know what sort of questions you'd get.

What a great too-short animation movie. All the more impressive that it was created by a student. I'd pay money to see a full length version of this!



The animation on the people remind me a lot of ani_mama's icon and her more casual art.

The Jurassic Park theme done by a Japanese guitar club. I had no idea guitars could make sounds like these do! Almost violin-like.



Jurassic Park was such a good movie, I still watch it any and every time I catch it on TV.

I sure am getting to be a grumpy old person though. One of the youtube comments was "Brings back all the childhood memories.". Childhood memories? Childhood?! The movie came out in 1993! That's just about yesterday! Gah! You young people are just way too young.

I'm not a music person, so it's really, really rare for me to stay in the car just so I can finish listening to a song. However, this was the most unique, amazing cover I had ever heard.

Nine Inch Nail's Hurt (which I liked in the original version), but sang by an "old man" with an amazing voice. Listen for yourself:



Like so many DJs do, this one gave no credit for who the song was by, but luckily googling "NIN old man cover" gave me perfect results. The singer is Johnny Cash. What an interesting idea!

Generally I don't like cosplaying because (in my experience) the people dressing up don't look like the characters. This? This is a totally different story: Tomax and Xamot from GI Joe! Eee! I can't believe anyone even remembers the characters! Another Cobra cosplay picture.

Catfight! Nice (lucky?) camera work on that. Poor kitties though, wish the photographer would have stopped them instead.

And this is just plain cool. If I had a yard, I'd want it! Metalwork dog? dragon?

Condom balloon animal sex! I can only guess this was not an American commercial. *snickers* So very funny! And so very... hot?

And this is just too too disturbing: Make way for the penis slide! Fun for kids of all ages! Seriously. It's a children's slide. A penis slide. *snickers* Here is a still image of it, but do not look at it until after you watch the video!

Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a religious person in any way, shape, or form. But still, I love this picture!He looks so very, very peaceful. Be warned: Comments about terrorists will be countered with pictures of Obama.

I have found the best comic ever. :D Unfortunately the humor is narrow enough that I know some people won't like it. Some will probably hate it. If you have an issue with sexuality, with homosexuality, or with frank talk about bodies, go ahead and skip this post.

I'd be tempted to add 'fart jokes' to that list of warnings, but I hate (hate hate hate hate) fart jokes and immature humor, but for some reason in this comic they totally work. I can't recall ever in my adult life laughing over a fart joke, but I have multiple times while reading.

This is the strip that made me post this rec NOW NOW NOW. That is sooooo me! I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. I suspect my neighbors heard me howling.

Unlike most comics, I do NOT recommend that you start from the beginning. She's been drawing these going on five years now, and I think the later ones are much more fun than the earlier ones. Start here, and just keep clicking previous.

Need a couple more samples to try before jumping in? This one made me snickersnort and giggle like a girl. And this one, with its use of cats had me snickering endlessly.

You folks can thank my RP for all these random images I've been posting lately. I can't multitask RP, so I just leave my random LJ image sites open and scroll through them between my poses, so I've been finding lots of stuff!

Usually I try to name files well, so I can find them months later. I so totally failed at that today. We have woman.jpg, woman2.jpg, man.jpg, and boy.jpg! And a BK.jpg, but we'll ignore that one for now.

First! A video that has been amusing me all night. I've watched it five or six times now: We didn't start the flame war. Made based on comments for a site, but nearly all of them are common to all message boards (there were just two out of a whole list that I didn't recognized).

BK.jpg: Okay, Burger King, could you be any less subtle? Sheesh.

man.jpg: Someone just discovered the hanky code! I'm thinking he might as well tattoo a list on his back instead...

woman.jpg: Coolest picture I've seen all week! I can't explain why without spoiling it though. (NWS: Boobs! It's not a sexual images, but there are naked boobs.)

woman2.jpg: So very, very odd... (Same warning: NWS, has boobs, but isn't sexual(?).)

boy.jpg is probably the most boring link of the night, but I wanted to include it so I could find it later. He may be CGI, but he's hot! The site had a bunch of cool CGI'ed people on it, wish I had bookmarked it.

I'm slowly catching up on House. Just started season three! I'm a little worried though. Now and then I catch a current season (five?) ep, and House seems to have a whole different team (and, from what little I've seen of them, I hate them all... both? Thirteen and the little mousy guy). Plus there's there's a whole big arc that I've seen on TV (and disliked) before I started catching up (a cop? fed? someone who is trying to get House arrested? license taken away? for being a druggie because House was mean to him in an exam). So I'm a little worried how much "good" is left ahead and if I'll stop loving the series before I catch up.

Did the new team seem to grow on fans?

I wonder if that's done with real stop motion animation or if it was somehow done with computers? Either way: Wow. So sweet and 'simple' and just really nicely done. (I wonder if it's a music video or the music is just there for the animation?)

I've known for a while that MGS had a fandom following. I had no idea why it does, I figured it was just another FPS video game. While scrolling through one of those random LJ image sites, I found this picture (work safe, but large). It caught my eye, I couldn't scroll passed it. There was real emotion in it, so I clicked through to the journal it was posted in.

Luckily I did, because I found this movie:

If that's fan made (which it seems to be), I'm darned impressed. And I'm SO in love with the narrator's voice. Mmmm accents. Mmmm Russian accents. Mmmmm!

In other news, the day flew by! Which would be bad, if it hadn't flown for such a good reason. RP! All day! And not even on WoW, so I didn't give myself eye strain! We just passed the eight hour mark, but alas I need to be getting to bed soon, so we're going to have to end. Eeeeeee RP! Yay! Best stuff in the world. :D
