Every day she makes another little step forward. Last night, for the first time, she decided to sleep with me. "Sleep" meaning anything but.

3:30 AM I woke to happyfeet on my legs.

3:45 AM she decided my feet were not happy and thus needed killing.

4 AM and she decided the blanket was in on it, too. She spent the next hour trying to bite and pounce every part of it.

Progress is worth the loss of an hour and a half of sleep, right? :P

I'm surprised this happened last night, as I had to traumatize her just hours before. I needed to take off her collar to try to fix it (the tag is backwards), which means I had to somehow get it back onto her. Since she likes being scratched around the neck, I had thought this would be easy, but oh no. TWO HANDS TRYING TO CATCH ME. FLAIL! RUN! I had to scruff her to get it back on her, which sent her fleeing away once I released her.

One day, little kitty, one day you will trust me.

That's so cute. She's making progress, so years from now you'll look back on this and remember how skittish she was.

When I got Boo, my younger kitty, she hid under the couch for months. We never saw her. I only knew she was alive because the food and water was disappearing and the cat box was used.

Then one day I looked up and glanced back and realized the cat was standing in the doorway, wide eyed and staring in at me and my (ex now) husband. I said 'Boo' and she leapt into the air and VROOM gone. I laughed so hard, and then named her Boo officially.

Now she's still a bit skittish with new people, but she's the most loving cat I've ever had. She always wants belly rubs and leaps into my lap the moment I sit down to watch TV. And she loves to be picked up and carried around the house.

Aww, Boo sounds just too cute! Ellie spent her first 24 hours with me not just under the sofa, but inside it. I was so worried I had lost her somehow! ("I just adopted her, now I'm going to have to tell her that somehow she got out!") I looked under the sofa (and everything else) with a flashlight, I emptied every closet and cabinet, I even checked the dishwasher, oven, and fridge just in case! Previously I had never heard of a cat able to get up inside the sofa from under it...

Like Boo, she's really loving, but she's very scared as well. Her body language is so mixed sometimes! She leans towards me, especially her butt, and yet her eyes are wide and she's on edge to flee.

Boo is the same way. When I come home from work, if she's outside and sees me, she just skitters off all ascared. Until I call for her, and then she trots back over like 'Oh it's /you/.'

Silly kitties.

My kitten, Captain James Tiberius Kirk, is terrible about attacking asleep people. He absolutely will not allow me to go to sleep at night without him being on my feet. If I go to sleep while he's still playing elsewhere, he promptly attacks my feet until I'm awake, then curls up and goes to sleep.

This is my wife's first cat. She is now convinced cats are the cuddliest, most adorable, most obnoxious pet she has ever owned.
