Oh now this is just being silly.

"Sweetened corn cereal
with chocolate pieces
and sliced almonds"

Chocolate chunks. In your breakfast cereal. Yummy? For sure. Breakfast cereal? I can't imagine.

Unrelated: AC repair guy is coming out today. I sure do hope he can fix it, since today is going to be as hot as yesterday.

Hee, that's my chocolate company! That is, the actual Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is right here in town, and because they have a 2nds sale three times a year my basement is full of random chocolates from them bought very cheaply. I didn't know they were making breakfast cereal, though...

Ah, you have obviously never had Special K's chocolate chunk cereal. It's awesome. :D

That is a desert. But desert for breakfast can be just fine. If I bought that my husband and kids would eat it happily, I'm sure.

They turned granola into cookies decades ago. :( :( :(

I don't have the kitchen resources (space) to make my own granola, so I'm sextuplely :(.

Love, C.

Ahh! Yes, I remember you writing about that, but I hadn't remembered the company's name.

Much envy for your chocolate basement!

Actually, I haven't! *googles* Ah, not surprising that it's good. It has more calories, fat, sodium, and sugar than Cocoa Puffs.

Seems kind of like they're cheating to put the Special K name on something that's worse for you than a children's cereal.

And boy, this post makes me feel like the Debby Downer of the food world! I like chocolate and sugar, honest! Just not so much for breakfast.

Agreed, to both parts. So long as you know it's a dessert and make a choice to have it, it's all good. Unlike the chocolate Special K cereal mentioned in the comments above, that's just plain trying to trick the customers.

Well, the good news is, no one is forcing you to eat any of it.

I bought some homemade granola once. (Made by [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo, in the first comment of this post!) It was so good! I don't buy the store-bought stuff -- like you said, it's just cookies now. :/

Looks yummy! The stats on it aren't so bad, either. 36 carbs for something with chocolate in it? I'll take it!

Oh GAWD. I'm not going to pretend I don't get a peanut butter bucket from Rocky Mountain as a travel treat whenever I go somewhere there is one, but ANYTHING WITH MORE THAN FOUR GRAMS OF SUGAR IS NOT BREAKFAST.

I can't get behind everything the Paleo Diet recommends, but I do think they're right on modern cereals. That is not food, that is pure sugar with a little wheat dust in there.

I agree with that's not a breakfast, that's a dessert.

Agreed. I have no issues with people eating it, assuming they know that. I worry too many people see "cereal" and think "good breakfast".
