Oh what the hell, A&E?
Dec. 28th, 2013 03:30 pmAfter Phil Robertson, star of Duck Dynasty, said awful things about homosexual people (saying they're the same as terrorists and other such hate-filled things, see my post about it here), A&E rightfully kicked him off the show.
But now they've changed their minds.
They're going to let him back on the show because: “While Phil's comments made in the (GQ) interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the ‘coarse language’ he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would ‘never incite or encourage hate.’"
"Coarse language" makes it sound like a 'damn' slipped out in front of small children. And he'd never incite or encourage hate? Isn't it just a bit too late to make that claim?
Sigh.

Also, since I'm posting, a totally unrelated topic. I got my latest Graze box!
salsa fresca: "tomato salsa fresca with cheesy sombreros" I really worried I wouldn't like this one, but once again I discover that I actually like salsa! Thanks, Graze, I found a new food I like!
cherries & berries: "cherries, lingonberries, cranberries and jumbo raisins". Not just a yummy mix of dried fruit, but it seemed like I got a lot more food in this packet than I get in most of the others. Overpacked by mistake?
banoffee pie: "fudge pieces, almond slices, pecan nuts and banana coins" Never heard of such a thing, apparently it's an English snack. The "fudge" pieces tasted more like butterscotch (maybe butterscotch fudge?). Surprisingly, it was too sweet for me -- a really rare thing.
fruit and seed flapjack: "rustic rolled oat flapjack with mixed seeds and dried fruits" The only one that I haven't tried yet. It's got these really big green seeds in it that scare me. Pumpkin seeds maybe? But those are usually white, right? I love flapjacks, but it has so many of those big green seeds in it...
Don't forget, you can click here to join Graze. $6 per box of four snacks, shipping included, first and fifth boxes free.
Edit: Bonus WTF. Esquire Magazine has named the Pope as the best dressed man of 2013. c.c

Date: 2013-12-28 11:38 pm (UTC)The shells are white, but they're a sort of pistachio green inside, so I'm definitely thinking pumpkin seeds based on your description :)

Date: 2013-12-29 04:45 pm (UTC)I think it would be yummier in a real pie form than in a trail mix form. Especially if it were warm.

Date: 2013-12-31 02:38 am (UTC)This is box #5:
boston baguettes - bbq relish with tomato breadsticks - I really liked the breadsticks, and the relish was reasonably tasty but had an odd texture and was a bit tough to scoop with breadsticks.
scrumptious blueberry swirl - blueberry yoghurt raisins, raspberry infused cranberries and blackcurrants - I really like almost all of the dried fruit mixes they've sent, including this one, although it's not as blueberry-centric as the name suggests.
sour cream and onion cashews - I love sour cream and onion chips and I love cashews, so this was a win-win for me
cookies and cream - I liked this one more than you did, but I ended up having to eat the sunflower seeds as their own thing because there were so many of them
This is box #6:
fruity mango chutney with black pepper dippers - both the dippers and the chutney built up to a nice spicy flavor over time, which I loved but you many not want. The dippers themselves might actually have been the more spicy part, so you can spread the chutney on something else if you get it and don't want as much spice.
apple and cinnamon flapjack - So yummy! It's probably good for me that graze sends a small amount at a time. ;)
pina colada - pineapple, coconut flakes, and mango - I continue to be surprised at how much I like dried pineapple and mango. Coconut is a bit dry, but that's the nature of the thing, so I just had to have some water handy.
Got another key lime pie, which I continue to love, and the other components in the snack help offset the lime raisins.

Date: 2013-12-31 04:45 am (UTC)I'm still waiting to try the boston baguettes. I'm pretty sure I have fruity mango chutney with black pepper dippers trashed though. (Anything with 'black pepper' in the name would be out without much thought.)
scrumptious blueberry swirl sounds really good, though it's too bad it's not as blueberry-y as it sounds.
apple and cinnamon flapjack: The best of all the flapjacks, by far. MMM
I can't wait for my next box! It's going to be a while though, I think.
