thistlechaserA most interesting discussion has been raging on a board I visit. 'If the entire world got together and decided to invade America, how would they do?'. Terms: No nukes, and ignore the fact that the world could never get together and act as a whole. Also, for some odd reason, the person who started this put England and Israel on the US's side as well.
The thread about it has been going on for 1,000+ posts, and it's darned interesting reading. The general opinion right now is that the world would fail, as they could never get their armies here. (Most countries have no navies at all, and the ones that do aren't even close to the US's.) A clip from one post amused me muchly, enough so that I wanted to share it here. He's discussing what if, somehow, they do get through the our defenses:
"After taking catastrophic losses, but having numerical superiority, the invaders finally reach our borders. This is when remaining military units mingle with our population of hillbillies, paintball players, Counterstrike players, gangstas, militants, people who hate the French, former military, and tons of normal people who dislike invasion."
Now how's that for an image? Some gang-color wearing gangsta standing shoulder to shoulder with a middle-aged paintballer standing next to a hillbilly with a gun in one hand and a jug of moonshine in another standing next to some adult male gun collector, all posed dramatically, looking out at the coast, gripping their guns and waiting for the mad Australians and Lithuanians to land and start the ground war?
