East Coast Blackout
Aug. 14th, 2003 03:16 pmI'd be a lot happier if I could contact any of my family over there. (All of my family lives in either NY or Maine, the NY bunch being my closest family and also they're nearly in NYC itself.) I know everyone's probably fine and dandy except a little annoyed at not being able to cook dinner, but being able to touch base with them would be nice.
And I guess it shows my trust in officials, but the first thing I heard about this was that it wasn't a terrorist strike, and my first thought was 'Yeah, right, and you'd tell us right away if it was?'. But anyway, yeah it's probably not.
I keep telling my family to leave NY. Weather's a thousand times nicer here (hello highs in the 70s in *August*), and planes don't crash into buildings here. And want to bring up earthquakes? In my four years out here, NY has had more earthquakes they can feel than here in CA.
