Wednesday review

thistlechaserYesterday was much, much better than the day before. Work was okay (it's never great, okay is the best we can hope for), and FFXI was more fun. Best of all, the AC at work got fixed! No more sitting around in near-100 heat!
While I really should look for new fics to read, I've been rereading some old favorites instead. Did you somehow miss An Awfully Odd Adventure by![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
dementordelta a while back? If so, go check it out now! I can't believe how much that story makes me smile. It's so innocent... and yet sexy! And though it seems the idea would just totally not work (Peter Pan done with HP characters/style), it 100% does.
Once I finished An Awfully Odd Adventure, I went on to The Durmstrang Chronicles byloupnoir. As there are 12 stories in that series, it'll keep me happily reading for a couple days. :)
FFXI: Making slow progress on lots of fronts. While leveling black mage, I finally hit level 14 (again), and made it about a fifth of the way to 15. I'm looking to hit at least 17 before giving that a break, but doing it solo will take ... well, a long time. It took me four days of about five hours a day to hit 14, and each level takes longer than the one before it. Either I'm going to have to group or it'll take forever...
I did some leatherwork last night and this morning, though just a little bit. I don't have the money for raw materials! And what I'm using now can't be gotten from things I can kill, alas! I did gain one level (22.something to 23.3), but it's so darned slow and expensive! One day I'll find something to make that I both don't lose money on and will sell. (I've only found one or two things I can make an okay profit on, but both of them sell maybe one or two per day on the AH -- one or two total, not with just me as the seller.) I can't believe how unprofitable leatherworking is so far -- when does it start making you good money? (I mean, it has to at some point! Otherwise we wouldn't have people doing it at such high levels...)
I got my second mog safe expansion. If only the darned bed would sell, I'd have a little money. (The prices fell! I bought it for 50,000 and it's currently selling for 41,000! Bah!) I'd like the final expansion as well, but that bed costs 100,000...
In other good news, by chance I finished up two quests last night! Someone /shouted in Japanese, but the words "hume" and "quest" were through the auto-translator. Figuring the person was trying to get people for the "need six of a race" quest, I replied. Then he asked me to "[change job] [warrior]" through the translator, so woo! We'd do the "need six of a job" one, too! It took nearly an hour to get arranged, but finally we had six hume warriors! Unfortunately for the others, only I was able to complete both quests. One person was from Bastok so couldn't do anything at all (except help us! Heh heh heh!), and the others apparently didn't have enough fame to get the last one. But yay for me! It worked out well for me, now I never have to deal with that again. (To non-players: It may sound like it'd be easy to get six players of a type together, but it's on the same level as getting six cats to sit in a row: No one listens, everyone wants to do their own thing, and FFXI players tend to have the attention span of gnats.)
