Movies, TV, anime, FFXI (In that order!)

Over the weekend I watched Master and Commander. I had sort of wanted to see it while it was in the theaters (but not so much that I could actually get myself there), so when it was on HBO I pounced on it. Dear friendslist, you mislead me! When the movie was first released, all I heard was how slashy the whole darned thing was... but I picked up on nothing. Bah! (Maybe my slashdar is broken? But I don't think so!) I sort of liked the doctor character, but I dislike Russell Crowe a lot (and even more so after watching the movie), so that sort of killed some of my enjoyment of it. The boats were highly keen though! And (surprisingly?) I liked the boy/kid characters more than the adult ones. So in the end, I'm glad I didn't pay to see it (other than the whole monthly HBO charge thing). I think I would have liked it better if everything was more centered around the doctor instead of Crowe's character and the battles.

Amazing Race started last night. Yay! Is it just me, or are there more nasty people in it this season? I could handle them for one hour, but I spent most of the second hour cringing. How could people who like/love each other be so darned nasty to each other? It made me sick to my stomach. Hopefully the worst of them (the guy in the yellow shirt!) will lose soon. The black FBI father guy seemed great, so nice!, but I didn't need to see him half-naked. :p

Lost is tonight! Yay! I don't even know the ep's title yet. :)

I have to find out what this House show that everyone is talking about is. (A good show? On Fox?) Well, okay, that's not a totally fair jab. I love (love love love!) Malcom in the Middle, and Sunday's ep especially. All those body builders! Heeheehee.

This morning I watched whatever the current Naruto ep is. (The end of the Naruto/Sasuke fight.) Every time I watch a new ep, I'm reminded how much I love this series. :) Sakura so totally needs to die though. "She's such a girl!" I growl out loud every time she cries or does something utterly stupid. And yes, she's a girl, but she's a ninja too, dammit! The other female ninjas are not so useless and worthless! Does she have a function other than to cry and to have pink hair? Grrr. It'd be keen if Sasuke turned evil. (I've not read the manga, I don't know and don't want to know until the anime shows it. :) ) If this were an American series, I'd say he'd never ever turn evil for real, but since this isn't, it might really happen!

FFXI: I've not been writing about the game much lately, have I? Mostly because I'm somewhat stuck. My static leveling party meets once a week, and other than that I have nothing I really have to or want to do. (I wish we could meet 2-3 times a week, but that wouldn't work for the others. I'm the only one in the party who is leveling their main job.)

Sniper's rings: Grrr! I bought my first one for just under 800K, so when I had 840K saved again, I went back to Jeuno to buy my second one... only to find the price had gone up to 880K! 800K was really the most I wanted to spend, so I grumped and left without my second ring. The next day I checked the price. It was up to 900K. The prices have only gone up since then, so finally I gave up and started spending my money on crafting instead. Part of me (well, most of me) thinks that's a very stupid idea, but I did hit leather 85 (and will likely push further tonight). And I really don't want to pay almost a million for a sniper's ring, but... (The prices are unlikely to ever drop back down. SE "adjusted" the spawn time of the NM who drops the ring you need to upgrade to make sniper's.) So, while I think I do really need a second sniper's, I'm undecided at the moment as to what to do.

So other than that, I'm mostly just fishing. For non-players: Fishing is probably the most boring thing in the game to do, other than standing around and waiting for the airship to arrive. You just press a macro to fish, then keep an eye on the screen and hit enter if you hook something or press the macro again to cast your line. Zzzzz. Picture doing that for 12 hours, and you had my weekend day on Sunday.

I know there's more stuff in the game that I should or want to do, I just haven't been able to figure it out lately. I did all the Sandy quests I could (alone and at my level), and the Bastok and Windy ones are too annoying to do. (Windy is too big to run around in, and Bastok just sucks and makes me want to cry.) I've done all the outland quests that I can do alone and at my level.

I hit level 37(WHM) last night, using the Dragon Chronicle thingie that we get at Eco. Now I just need a couple more weeks to get a darned buffer so I don't delevel if I die! (It's keen to be able to level without partying! Eventually I'd like to get to WHM 38 by Eco'ing.)

Robot slaves to clean my house! Bwahahaha!

I just ordered a robot that will clean my house. How very cool is that? I've heard nothing but good things about Roombas, so I'm really looking forward to getting mine. (I just hope my cat doesn't freak out at it!)

I'll post some pictures of it working once it arrives. :)

At it again! (A drabble and an unrelated link.)

I've not written a drabble since I left hp100 long long ago. When I first found lost100 I figured I'd just lurk, but this week's challenge had just too much potential.

We could write a Lost drabble about anything we liked, but we had to use a Beatles song title somewhere in it. (List of titles here.) At first that seemed like a silly idea, but man! So many titles and so any good ideas! So I wrote one, and I suspect I may write more before the week's done.

Title: Not Alone ("Beatles Song Titles" Challenge.)
Character: Walt, Vincent, and something in the jungle.
Words: 100.
Song Title: The last line of dialogue is the song title. It would spoil it to put it here.

I had forgotten how fun and challenging it was to shoot for exactly 100 words! To get a (hopefully) good story told and to have some sort of twist in it. :)
