thistlechaser: (Super Ninjas! (Naruto))
So tired. So very very tired. Was exhausted yesterday, but failed to fall asleep last night (too much caffeine too late). One more very annoyingly hard week of work ahead of me, which will be made even more annoying if I cannot catch up on my sleep.

Exercising this morning was so far out of the question it was funny; I could hardly walk to my car, let alone walk further than the minimum I had to. Watched Naruto #124 this morning instead, and let me thank the writers for not ending on as bad of a cliffhanger as they could have. Was very surprised at the new people, but happily so. I thought the Rock Lee new style was highly silly, but eh. Tried to start downloading #125, but gotwoot was down this morning, so couldn't.

FFXI:

Friday night: Subjob static. After about 40 minutes of looking, we finally got a WHM (we have 5 static members, just no WHM), and he was a surprisingly good one. Shadowkin was his name, I believe. Fit right in with our humor and such. Unfortunately we got only one level...

Saturday: Had intended to spend the day farming, but after one trip Beanie poked me. They were doing an Escort Quest, during which mold could drop, so even though I was a little lower level than everyone else, I went along. Boy was it fun! (Hey, when isn't killing stuff fun?) 10,000g and 818 XP award from the quest, plus I got my mold! Yay! (Non-players: Once you hit 50, every 5 levels you have to do very special and very hard stuff to gain the ability to gain 5 more levels. For the first one you need 3 items, the mold being one of them.) Not sure what I did after that, other than some fishing. Fishing for skill = PAIN. Bah. Even with the controller, I hold my arm too tense or something. Was only able to fish an hour or so, and my arm still hurts today. Bah. Oh well, at least I don't even want to fish much anymore; it would suck if I enjoyed fishing as much as I had under the old system.

Sunday: Our main static! And boy did we rock! :D I got two levels, ending up at 47 and halfway to 48! Eee! I got to learn a new spell (unlike "real" mages, I only get spells every couple of levels), and a new mantle (yay ATT+!). At 48 I finally get to use my Life Belt, which I'm very much looking forward to. For the first time in a while, even though I was eating my good +10 ACC food, I was having trouble hitting things. Bah.

We were in Quicksand Caves for our partying, which was a pretty boring place... other than the darned spiders. *twitch* RL spiders don't bother me, but then RL spiders aren't this big! I'm not usually the puller, but because of the layout of the area it worked having two pullers, so for this week I helped out. It went surprisingly well (I even beat the other party's puller to things!), except the one time I got my directions mixed up and zoned out by mistake. :p And people don't believe me when I say I could get lost in a straight hallway!

I try not to buy new armor too far ahead (because I don't have the space to store it), but with us getting so close to 50 I can now start looking at new stuff. When 55 rolls around, I might just be able to wear pants! (I've not worn pants since 25!!) Plus there's lots of other yummy ACC+ and ATT+ stuff. A lot of it is Sandy CP items... but rank 6. :( Hopefully I can get rank 6 before I hit 55 and save a little money that way.

Tonight: Though I'd really, really, really like a night off from FFXI stuff, a big group of LS people are going to Tavnazian Safehold (Phomiuna Aqueducts) to do a mission (BCNM -- killing the Minotaur). I only learned about it on Saturday, so I haven't had time to do any research on it at all... (Reading Alla as I make this post.) Looks like I'll have to run home at lunchtime and hit Jeuno to grab some things. It'll be interesting to see a new area though, and this will be my first time seeing "dinosaur" mob types. I just hope it goes well...

Zzzzz, wonder if I could sleep on my desk till people start getting here for the day?

I heard about this over lunch, but I hadn't had time to make a post until now.

Woo! California is so great! <3 <3 <3 Gay and lesbian couples in California have a constitutional right to marry, a San Francisco Superior Court judge ruled Monday.

Well thank you very much! :) Because like I've been saying all along: If you don't believe in gay marriage, then don't marry someone of the same sex! If you don't like apples, don't eat them! If you don't like the color blue, don't paint your house blue! However, just because you don't like the color blue does not mean you get to say "No one should be permitted to paint their house blue!".

Yay love! Maybe we'll get more gay marriages here, then I can send more flowers to random couples waiting in line! The memory of doing that still makes me smile -- I really hope I made some couple's day a little brighter!

...bah, back to work. Boo work! Yay love!

I'm too darned tired of FFXI to look at it any longer, and I hope to be rested enough to go walking tomorrow morning, so I processed some screenshots tonight instead of saving them for then. And not just FFXI stuff, a variety of stuff!

I downloaded Naruto #125 tonight, and skipped right to the previews for #126. This sure looks like Zabuza to me! Maybe a slightly younger him? The preview gives NO context at all, just shows a glimpse of him in the middle of other stuff. I never watch Naruto raws, but if I can find #126 raw I just might. When is it shown in Japan? Wednesdays? (And has Rock Lee's VA changed? His voice just stabs me in the ear now. Ugh. Maybe it's because he drank, I guess.)

I don't talk about Neopets much anymore because I'm mostly bored with the site and don't go much, but this amused me enough to snicker out loud and make a screenshot. I got a new pet, so I bought a petpet for it. The success message of giving the petpet to my pet made me snicker muchly: Oh, I BET you're happy to get it... Based on their expressions, it looks like I might lose the petpet I paid 10,000 for! *gulp*

FFXI: So we did the Aqueducts CoP mission tonight. I say the same thing I say after every one of these big missions: The people who run them have the patience of saints. Beanie should be paid RL money for putting up with that much crap, as well as Draque who didn't even need to go since he did it already. The mission confirmed in my mind LS people who I NEVER EVER EVER want to party with again. Gods above, how can someone live with themselves making 17 people wait 20 minutes for you because you're late? And a certain person did this not just tonight, but on one of our Promy runs as well. Lots of other interpersonal annoying crap went on, causing a number of us to risk baldness from pulling our hair out and trying not to snap at people. Grrrrr.

But we succeeded in the mission, so. So. So. We finished up and I got to town and was able to log off at 10 PM, when I have to go to bed at 11 for work tomorrow. An entire night of stress for this, leaving only a grand total of one hour off before I have to go back to the rest of Hell Week at work.

There was some good stuff as well. I always enjoy fighting stuff (even if I almost died once). The new area (aqueducts) were unfortunately neither interesting nor pretty, and the constant sound of flowing water made me feel like I had to pee all the time. :P The new mobs we saw were very very cool. Probably the best part of the night (besides killing them).

In reverse order of interestingness/coolness!

I'm not sure if this spider-thing was stone, mechanical, or both. It was darned scary even though it wasn't aggro. (I don't like giant spider-things...)

How's this for a great screenshot? This Stegotaur really, really wanted to eat me! Yes, yes. "lol drk tank". We were very much lacking in tanks, so since I hit the hardest I kept tanking. :p I don't mind tanking, even though I shouldn't. Luckily I was (people had said) way over-prepared with meds. Turned out I had just enough...
(Non-players: A "tank" is the person in the party who is supposed to get hit by the mob. They hold the mob's hate (attention) while everyone else beats it up. As a Dark Knight, I'm built for total offense, no defense at all, thus I'm usually one of the least likely tanks.)

And the boss! The Minotaur! I have no idea how these mobs got their names or why they're called "dinosaur types" (other than their names). They look nothing like dinosaurs to me. They look more like bulls dipped in Evil Mutating Pool Of Evilness.

With 18 people fighting these things, I'm surprised I was able to get good screenshots. Usually I spam print-screen, but this time I only took a couple each fight.

I'm glad that we did the best of the three parties tonight (or we seemed to), especially because I didn't feel like I was on my game at all. I didn't panic during the fight where we got two stegotaurs, I just forgot half the tools my job has. As my HPs fell into the red and others died around us, I should have 1) drained, and/or 2) 2-houred, but neither crossed my mind. I had said to myself "Oh well, we're going to all die here, in the first fight of this thing, and then that'll be that". I was sure we were all going to die, so I don't know why I used all the hi-potions I had brought (some part of me figured I might be the last person standing and thus not die, which makes NO sense at all). Again, there was no panic, it was just a detached coolness "Oh, we're all going to die now. No biggie. Yawn.". Odd.

Looking at the screenshots now, I wonder if we had made a mistake. When I did try to drain (many fights later), it worked very very poorly. I bet these monsters are dark-based? Notice we battled them not only on Darkday but in dark weather... Yes, the boss fight wasn't really a challenge with 18 folks, but for a smaller group that might be something to consider. And bring meds, as many as you can. Holy waters, antidotes (tons, the AoE posion is really really harsh and hits you many times a battle), be able to sneak or bring oil, and hi/x-potions will never hurt (you can always sell them back if you don't need them).

And now it's 10:47... bedtime. Sigh. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep tonight, otherwise I'll be in bad shape tomorrow. (So tired. I keep reading that as "I'll be in bad Snape tomorrow" as I'm editing this.)

One more night of FFXI stuff tomorrow (Eco-Warrior), then I get a couple days off. (Isn't that something? Looking forward to "days off" in a game?) I'm almost hoping Ceh has to go away to the work thing for a week, cause I really wouldn't mind skipping subjob-static on Friday and main static on Sunday. (But if everyone is here, I'll be there for sure! Gotta level!)
