Please kill me now. If I'm dead I could sleep, right? Unless I became a zombie, I suppose. So okay! That's the plan! Kill me, but don't you dare make me into a zombie! Zzzzzzzz
I can handle life when any two of these three things happen:
1) Serious lack of sleep.
2) Work is hellish.
3) Free time is sucking ass.
However, I cannot function when all three of those things are happening at once. Like this week! Luckily it's Wednesday, and hopefully Friday things will improve.
If they don't, I may drive my car into a tree.
Okay, kidding. Mostly.

FFXI: Oh, I could rant about the awful patching last night, but know what? I don't have the energy for that. It sucked, it sucked really badly, but drawing pictures for people was fun and the patch is finished now, so.
Once I finally was able to get online, I (like the 745715741051501 other players) tried to get the friendship quest done. To be fair to me, it's the only thing in this update that really interests me. Other jobs get a crapload of good new stuff to use, but I had only one single ring I wanted. A level 75 ring. So.
The first part of the quest was easy. I didn't do it exactly right and thus didn't end with the model I wanted (I got Ead's brother), but I can live with that. Happily there was a name I really like (Gunnar), so he's that. I went off to do the first NM fight of the quest, and that's where things went really down hill.
After waiting 5 hours for the patch to download and install, I logged onto the game and waited on a line for an hour and a half. o.O And, of course, I didn't get to the head of the line before bedtime, so again I had another night of short sleep.
The line sucked. It sucked like nothing had ever sucked before, including spending 5 hours waiting for the patch. You had to stay exactly behind the person in front of you (touching/inside them) to keep someone from taking your place, but not so close/inside/ahead that that person thought you were trying to cut! Then of course there were the assholes who cut anyway.
Thank god I went as DRK/WHM (which is a combo I'm really starting to like!), because /WHM literally saved my life. Some asshole idiot who had tried to cut trained a bomb onto the line. It exploded on me. I had blink and stoneskin up (becase I was near the head of the line, thus getting AoE'ed endlessly by the three undead NMs), and even with those the bomb did 600 damage to me. That wasn't deadly in and of itself, but people were fighting two of those multi-eye mobs right next to me, and I was getting some sort of AoE from them, too (or there might have been a second bomb, I'm not exactly sure), plus the whole 'undead blood saber' move going off every 10 seconds or so...
The fight itself was fun! If I hadn't waited on a line that long (with people who need to die, people who used things like "w8ing" instead of "waiting" *stab*stab*stab*), I would have really enjoyed this leg of the quest. The NM wasn't a total pushover for me, but it really wasn't hard at all. I'd say a little harder than a dhalmel in Bubu.
When you get the NM down to half-life (2-3 swings, for me), your NPC friend joins in the fight. The first thing my silly guy did was provoke it! Ha ha. In a normal battle that might be fine, but the point of this fight was to keep your NPC alive while killing the mob. Luckily I had enough hate that the mob didn't even turn from me (plus I tossed off a stun to make sure it would stick to me), and in a couple more swings it was dead.
Here's the funny part of the night: The fight was easy for me, but I got to thinking about the others in the static. Ceh was the only one I was worried about. She's a WHM, they're not too good at that whole "beating things to death" thing. How would she do in the fight? Then, way too long later, I laughed. WHM > undead! Ha ha ha. Silly bones won't know what hits them!
So tonight I need to do the next NM fight. Yesterday people stood on line for 9 hours waiting for that one. (The first one can have three people/three NMs out at once, but the second one is only one at a time.) As much as I want to finish the quest, I'm not going to wait on a multi-hour line to do it. No way, no how.
