thistlechaser: (Catboy Takuto love! (FMwS))
Believe it or not, PokeMUSH is going to re-open in some way, shape, or form. [livejournal.com profile] coffeehousedog (Vixen on the MUSH) contacted me about it. She's going to take over the account on Mushpark. The timing is quite surprising, since Nails was going to purge it this week... I'm thinking I might start sitting on it during the work day, if only as Thistle. I don't know if I'll be able to RP again. ("Able" being the correct word, since I'm a year or so rusty and have zero interest in Pokemon. But, you know, TR RP rocked many pairs of socks, so we'll see...)

I'm very much not going to be any sort of a staffer, just a question-answerer if [livejournal.com profile] coffeehousedog needs it.

(Heh. Rereading this before posting the journal make me... miss old things. Like Rocket RP. A lot. Sly is dead and long gone from my head, but I still think of a lot of the other characters (especially the Biker Gang ones), and the old staffers and stuff. Heh. So very odd. :) )

FFXI: An odd day, but a good one!

Because I had to try to catch [livejournal.com profile] turlos to do the eye synth at 2 PM, I didn't want to get into an XP party or anything else I couldn't leave at the drop of a hat, but luckily nice and pretty [livejournal.com profile] merrkitty asked me if I wanted to go to the Tree and skill up. And I did! 10 more levels on that damned great sword. (170, need to get to at least 200 before I can use it in XP parties.) Alas I left my Tree key at home and we found a coffer, so still no map for me.

That GS I wanted to buy last night, the only "reasonable" one for my level (about 150K, as opposed to the two million+ ones), sold today for 175K, 25K over the last sale, which was 10K over the sale before that, which was 10K over the sale before that... Grrrr. Now there are none up for sale and when one gets listed it will probably be for even more. Stupid great swords...

Turns out [livejournal.com profile] turlos was doing HNM LS foo during the Lightday/full moon, so thanks to a poking from [livejournal.com profile] gbeans I asked and got an EK alchemist to do it. And the synth worked! WHEW WHEW WHEW. I had been intending to tip 5K for the (successful) synth, but I was so happy that I gave her 10K. :P I'm not too worried about the NM fights, it was the synth I was really concerned about. Eeee, can't wait to get my o-hat! EEEEEEE!

Even though I hadn't wanted to or intended to XP tonight, I put my flag up for a while. After a couple hours, I actually got an invite! (!!! Shock and amazement! My third one in two weeks!). The party wasn't good and wasn't bad, which makes it count as a "good party". Hit 67! But before I was able to get a buffer, the THF got a link on his pull. These goblins we were fighting were really too tough for us, each fight would drain the party fully and take 3-4 minutes. Two gobs at once was a certain party wipe. And I had no buffer. Luckily the warp object I had was a neck piece, so I put it on to let it cool down. The tank died in seconds, and another party member followed. Now, while I didn't want to die and delevel, I also wasn't about to run out on people (even random people) just to save myself. But when someone said "{Run away!}", then I used my object. I figured that was okay, since it was just a better form of running. The party did wipe, and I got a few /slap's over /p (*grumble*), but... what good would it have been to die with them? I tell myself that they were just annoyed that I was smarter than them. :P (And I did offer to come back as WHM and raise.)

After that I followed Avie (who may or may not have a LJ!) and "helped" her party. (Stood around and watched them kill stuff. :P ) Then I ran with her to Jeuno (not that she really needed me, but ... I've helped no one this weekend and was really wanting to help someone), then went and got her greens for the chocobo quest.

I'm very much looking forward to Eco and Escort tomorrow, both because I miss doing stuff with LS people and because... well. I'm tired of XPing. Really tired. I do want to level, but I'm tired of seeking parties, making parties, and killing the same darned mob type over and over again. (That's one thing I like better about WoW, I don't have to fight eight thousand of the same exact mob over a few hours. I mean really, what's the point of doing that? "Learn your job"? If it takes that many fights to learn it, there's something darned wrong with your job.)

Anyway, as this post gets longer and longer, I currently have three goals in the game: 1) Hit 68 and be able to wear the first two pieces of armor I've been carrying around for months. 2) Hit 69 and wear the other two pieces. 3) Reach the end of 69 and fight (and hopefully beat) Maat. I had been telling myself that once I hit those three goals I'd settle down and not be so driven to level all the time, but I don't know if I'll make it that far. Maybe 1 and 2, then 3 can be later...

WoW: I need to decide what to do about the whole game. I've played once in the last two weeks, and that one time was less than an hour. I can't recall what I pay a month, but whatever it is it has to be too much for the amount I'm playing. Problem is, if I'm going to put time into leveling, I want to do it on FFXI where it "counts". (Don't ask me to explain that, it's just a feeling I have. FFXI is serious, progress counts there. WoW is a "game"... which should be a "duh" but ...) Well, I'm not going to give up my account just yet. Oddly, I sort of miss seeing Thunder Bluff and flying around and feeding my pet. Maybe I'll just stop in and visit things sometime. Oh heck, and mail times out eventually there. Heh. I better log on and take stuff out of my boxes.
