Hurry up and wait (FFXI)
Jul. 2nd, 2006 11:06 pmWas both a busy and a boring day. I (and a number of other people) thought a LS event (killing the NM for that ToA map) was happening today, but it was really scheduled for next Sunday. Since a bunch of us where there and ready, we went out and did it (and will go again next week). Then we discovered that two of us didn't have all the CSs (the guides we used hadn't been complete) so we battled it again!
While waiting for the fight to start, I did that dat/font change. Screenshot that kills two birds with one stone: NM and font change! At first I didn't like the change (I noticed the text too much) but in an hour or three I got used to it, now I love it. Also, I pronounce "Chigoe" as "Chicago" in my head, so it amused me that we were battling Plague Chicago. Easy fight, though the enaspir it had annoyed the hell out of me (at least it was only 3-5 MP per hit).
After that we killed the RNG AF3 NM (tiger) for Beanie. Easy kill. When did AF3 mobs get so wussy? :P The "best" part of the fight (though I know this is a bad way of thinking) is that I got hate a couple times... using my axes. Real proof that my skill is high enough that the axe damage doesn't suck! (At one point it turned towards me while up on two legs, worrying me muchly! Please don't WS me, Mr. Tiger! I'm sorry for calling you wussy!)
After that I had zero to do, so I farmed eles in the Canyon for a while. That turned out to be a good thing!
I got bored of that, so reached the very bottom of my list of things to do when bored: Chocobo dig. First three runs were average: Broke even (barely) on two, lost about 10K on one. That's really the best I can hope for, even though I'm a high level digger. It's sad, but our server has too many diggers. But the last trip out (#4) was amazingly different! I must have been the only digger in the Highlands -- I got 14 elm logs! Eeee! Combine them with the 15 or so I got in the last digging trips over many weeks, and it was time to craft!
I ended the night with 24 stacks of bast parchment and 12 stacks of black ink. I had to pay for the fish to make the ink (I have the skill to catch them, but oh how I hate the "new" fishing system!) I bought... 5? 6? stacks of Nebis at 30K each, but with them I'll be able to make... (oh dear, maths) 12 stacks of ink, 12 synths per stack. That's 144 inks/synths. Each ink will make 33 shihei if I don't HQ or fail. That'd be 4752 shihei? 144 x 33? Doesn't sound like a high enough number, but 4753/99 = 48 stacks. I guess that's right.
Ha ha, have I lost everyone yet? If not, one last bit! There was a Besieged tonight, but it was an annoying one. Yes, still fun, but annoying. I died FIVE times! Used six pieces of sushi! Last one eaten not 15 seconds before it ended. Bah. I can't believe how much I died. Usually dying once is rare, and twice was my record.

A BLU beastman did that, but I have no idea what move it used. Overkill, anyone? (It killed a dozen or so others along with me.) My axe is not skilling up at all, even though I eat sushi and can usually connect. It's 204, which is a little low (my axe and GS were 250+ when I started Besiegeds), but still, I should see more than one skillup in 45 minutes. :/
Tomorrow: Make a kazillion shihei! So yay for having farmed eles today!
