I like Auron less playing the game this time through than I did the first time I played it. He's really driving Yuna hard. The whole marriage to Seymour thing, his only concern is 'Will you continue with your journey?'. We just killed Seymour (for the first time, ha ha) and got chased out of the temple and are now under the ice. She's fallen on a piece of wood and not getting up. The others are concerned about her and themselves, but Auron still has that one and only concern. Her continuing.

Auron is driven, and it's really showing. I think it's understandable for him to be so focused on this one thing, but I also think it's hurting the others. I dislike Rikku and hate to quote her, but "You didn't have to say it that way!". He *could* be nicer about all this...

I wonder if Auron wants to defeat Sin so badly to free Jecht or to free the world of Sin. Or maybe both. If I understand things correctly, he stuck around after death because of the promise he made to Jecht, to take care of Tidus. He could do that without defeating Sin though, so what's the big push to do that?

In a way, this is a lot like the conflict I had had about Jecht... and it's a good thing. These aren't one-dimensional, shallow, unrealistic people. Like real humans, they're complex and imperfect.

Oh, and I also noticed that as the game progresses, Auron's hair gets more and more grey. That's darned cool.

Yes, Auron is -very- driven. Driven by what? Eh, I have two guesses: Free Jecht, and revenge. Probably both. If you really stop to take a good look at how he functions (I've had to, I RP him!), -most- of what he does is simply using those around him to accomplish his goals (Defeat Sin, free Jecht, get revenge, etc). He's Unsent, after all. He knows Spira's secrets. From what I could tell, none of the Unsent who knew that much about Spira's inner workings were 'good'. I think that he really did lose a bit of his humanity when he lost his friends and his life. He's certainly not the young, passionate, devoted man he once was! Yeah, he has his moments of kindness and wisdom, but he's a slavedriver. X3 Though... He was like that on Braska's pilgrimage too, t'be honest, very goal-oriented. I think that's half the reason Jecht drove him nuts. c.c Jecht is the opposite of everything Auron stands for.

But! I'm rambling now. I shall stop my fangirlish gushing over Auron and go.... play the game again. I gotta see if his hair realy does get more gray. c.c I never noticed that, if it really does.

Yeah, I think you're right. And I guess it'd make sense that he lost some of his humanity when he died (which makes sense, huh?). I really, really wish they'd have spent more time on Jecht/Auron of the past, it must have been something to see the two of them, so opposite, interacting on a day to day basis.

The scene I really noticed the hair color change in was the under-the-ice one. In the beginning, Auron had had silver at his temples and a little on top, but in that scene it was silver all the way around (the edge, where the hairline met his face). I have to keep watching and see if the change stays/continues or if it was just poor animation/editing in this scene.

*cough*

I knew Auron's secret days ago, remember? After seeing dead Seymour for the first time. Sorry, there are just some things I have an instinct for. I guessed at the Farplane. ;)

And yes, Auron is driven. It's part of what makes me like him so much. He's so driven that he couldn't die where he was struck down, he's so driven that he couldn't stay dead. As a certain someone may have noticed, I like driven characters (even when it's me they're driving round the bend). From his point of view, if Yuna stops then he's failed in his promises both to himself and others - and if he's failed, he might as well not have come back at all. Honour is a wonderful thing and he just about oozes it.

I haven't finished the game yet, though. Probably won't for quite a while. Just got the Celestial Mirror and it's afternoon shifts now.
