Book #40 of 2024: Nine Goblins

Nine Goblins by T. Kingfisher.
Quick synopsis: A goblin officer leads her troops in battle. An elf veterinarian helps magical creatures in the woods. The two encounter each other and solve a magical mystery together.
Brief opinion: It took 20% of the book before the plot started, and even then that barely improved things.
Plot: The quick synopsis really says it all. Add in a bunch of fart and nose picking jokes and some interesting magical animals and you have pretty much the whole book.
Writing/editing: This was supposed to be a "comedy", but in the entire book, there was just one mildly amusing paragraph.
The writing was pretty basic (this is one of the first stories Kingfisher wrote). The editing had a few small issues.
What I Liked/What I Didn’t Like: The only thing I liked in the whole book was the elf veterinarian, and only in the beginning of the story.
I really should have DNFed this book, I liked nothing else about it. The humor ranged from unfunny to annoying (I cannot count how many nose picking jokes there were). It only took 3 hours and change to read though, so I slogged through it.
Rating: 1-Hated / 2-Disliked / 3-Okay / 4-Liked / 5-Loved: ⭐️ ½ -- 1.5 stars, which is probably higher than I should have given it.
