Somehow by random chance I picked three books a row with the same rare issue with them...
DNF #51: The Cold Commands (A Land Fit for Heroes Series Book 2) by Richard K. Morgan. I haven't read book 1, how did I end up getting this book, book 2 of a series? I liked one of the characters a lot (a Steppes lord/berserker kind of guy), but there was so much I wasn't understanding or following well (because duh, book 2). By the time I learned that aliens lived on the (what seemed like a fantasy) planet, I was ready to give up. I'm sure that was explained in book 1 though. DNFed only because I hadn't read book 1.
DNF #52: A Dragon of a Different Color (Heartstrikers Book 4) by Rachel Aaron. I somehow went into this one not realizing it was book 4 of the series (the covers on my Kindle are only about an inch tall and in black & white, sometimes I can't even read the book's title on them). I was seriously confused as to what the heck was going on, so checked other reviews and discovered it was book 4. DNFed it since there was no use going on at that point.
DNF #53: The Adventurers and the Jungle of Jeopardy (The Adventurers book 5) by Jemma Hatt. While I haven't read the first four books in this series, the story was straightforward enough that I didn't feel lost. But that turned out to be another whole issue: The story was just too simple, the characters weren't believable to me. DNFed early on.
