thistlechaser is pretty high on the food chain of lj users. Addicted to the Pirates of the Carribean movie (which isn't a bad thing), uses good grammar and capitalization and such, posts some quizzes but at least they're the interesting ones, and from a linked picture is one of two very cute girls. She seems pretty mature for the age she looks. Into art, owns a domain with an interesting name, posts pretty infrequently.
thistle: ugh. Her keyboard has no shift key, but at least she can spell. Very high angst content, very stylized, which obscures the substance. Age 22. Likely a goth, likely into being depressed, likely no reason for it other than to be cool. Still, in the top 50% of lj users.
thistle_dear: Style problems - learn to ease up on the emoticons, and the cutesy-speech, girl! And the color scheme is also unnecessarily cute. But, while she squeals her way through life, and doesn't say a lot at a time, at least the things she squeals about are quality, in my book. Bummer about the sleep disorder. If she's 19 or less, I think she's got a good chance to be a cool person pretty soon. If she's over 25 - I'm worried about the immature facade.
thistlemoon: Wow, what a breath of fresh air. I wish she'd capitalize, but that's the biggest complaint. Articulate and honest, full of self-examination, in the life of a deeply lonely girl. I want to reach through the screen and give her a hug, because there's so clearly a lot to like here, and her problems seem to have a substance to them rather than the low self esteem death spirals that dominate the teenage/early twenties typical livejournalers. Definite A-list material.
Thistle_masta is unreadable.
Interestingly, all 4 were women, and all 4 were better than most Random Journal links. I was expecting this to be much more of a tongue in cheek amusing post on random livejournalers, but they're an okay lot. I guess thistle is a word that doesn't appeal to the standard angstathon teen.
Still, this is clearly the place to be for links to high quality Harry Potter textual porn!
Sadly, the journals that are "pending deletion" tend to wait a long time until they are actually deleted. I think that they actually delete them once every... well... never I guess.
Which is sad because a lot of good names are taken, and many of those are taken by people who no longer want them and *want* their journals deleted.
I suspect that Thistle_masta would have been in the lower half to lower quarter, based on the spelling of 'master' (assuming that's what they were aiming for). Other than that, the high quality/high female-factor is a curious thing, huh?

Seeing how some of the other LJ-tech works (or doesn't...), it wouldn't surprise me if they purge deleted LJs every X times a year (or whenever they think to do it) instead of having it happen automatically.
thistle_chaser, how did you go about finding the other LJ users with similar usernames? It made me curious to go tracking down...although kayla is not a name associated with age, as far as I can tell. Sigh. Maybe I should have used Michaela after all...
LJ's search features really suck, so I hit Google and made use of their totally-non-suckiness.
I used their advanced search (tiny link on the right, next to the search box) and put livejournal.com into the domain/"return results from the site or domain" field, and "thistle" as my search term.
So there might be other thistle-whatever LJs out there, but at least Google has some of them...
Well, let's review
