Nice like white on rice

thistlechaserI like going grocery shopping at lunchtime, because then I can get white rice at the Chinese food counter. Okay, I'd rather they not leave me standing there waiting for a clerk, making me eye all the good good good things I won't be ordering, but still! Once I'm not seeing all the other stuff, I'm fine and dandy with having just rice for lunch. Well, not exactly "just rice", I put sweet and sour sauce on it. It's very yummy that way, you almost don't miss the meat at all.
I bought some sort of fresh stir-fry noodles. Though I've never made stir-fry before, I'm going to be brave and try it tonight. I'm going to assume the name holds all the instructions you need: Heat some oil, drop the noodles in, and stir it as it fries. (I don't mean like deep frying it, I've seen people do this on TV.) I don't have a wok though, just a frying pan. Oh, and I don't have any veggies, so I guess it'll be just noodles and sauce (again). I'm just a little worried about having to heat the oil up. I don't want it to catch fire! My frying pan has no lid, but I do have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
I meant to pick up some veggies, but the grocery store has a life-sized plastic horse at the end of the produce area, and man, it distracts every time! I walk into the section, intending to pick out things to try, and my eyes fix on the horse. Slowly I push my cart that way, grinning at the real tack they put on the fake horse. By the time I reach it, I'm in the meat section (yes, they're using the horse to advertise new cuts of meat, this disturbs me a lot).
Good news at work today, or so I think. I mentioned having to go to training next week, right? Well the company who is doing the teaching sent me an email with the subject line "Cancellation By Core" (Core is part of their name). The message is in an attachment instead of in the body, and it can't be opened. (I emailed her twice now asking for her to send it in the body.) However, I'm hoping that that subject line means that the class has been canceled! That'd be the best -- as much as I don't want to be at work, being at training would be worse since I'd have no net access (oh yeah, and lots more work after it). I wish they'd hurry up and email me back so I'd know for sure.
Oh, Hyper: Corn Flakes has a really nice picture of Simba on the front of the box. Beautiful. The new DVD set comes out October 7th. I saw the box and thought of you.
