My email this morning made me blink:



"Wait, he was a senator? And it's no surprise no one knows who he's working for, does no one remember 'talk less, smile more'?"

And since I'm posting about Hamilton, I keep having another odd thing happen. I'll look up one of the 'characters' from the play, then get so surprised when the picture is of an old white man. "What? No, he's young and black, how did this picture get-- Oh wait, right...." It's so silly and funny, since of course at that time in history it wouldn't be a black man in that position.

Ahh, yeah, Senator Richard Burr of my own state, NC. He's actually related to Aaron Burr according to Wikipedia (a 12th cousin). And that's all I'm gonna say about the dude.

Yeah, I googled him after I posted to see if he was related... I wasn't at all impressed by what I read.

LOL yes I have that same thing happen when new books come in about Hamilton and I'm like "who is this guy?" and then "oh yeaaaaaaah". It was so brilliant of Lin-Manuel to cast the play the way he did. Plus it introduced me and the world at large to Daveed Diggs <3 <3 He had a guest spot on Kimmy Schmidt AND Blackish and it made me so happy. And now he is in 'Wonder' so I kinda want to see it just for that LOL

I love him so much! Lafayette's lines always make me grin.

I wish I had gotten into it sooner, I bet the actors were all guests on various talk shows a lot more frequently a a year or two back...

Ooh is he in Wonder? I'm not really interested in that movie, but maybe when it's out of theaters I'd check it out just for him.

NPR did an interview with Leslie Odom (Aaron Burr) today, because he's putting out a Christmas album. The music didn't do much for me, but it was still cool hearing him talk about the show and such.

Yes, he plays the teacher in Wonder so I'm thinking that is probably a nice role. He had a reoccurring role on Blackish and I'm hoping that doesn't change this season! The most hilarious part was his was a beat poet/rapper character but he was AWFUL and it was so funny how they would give him these awful raps. He seems like such a cool guy!

Odom put out a few songs last year actually, they weren't bad but nothing that stood out. I will have to give the new album a listen (hopefully it is on Spotify? I wonder how much streaming services have hurt Christmas album sales, I mean, why would I buy a CD I only listen to once year?)

That's how I felt about the clips of his Christmas album, too. Not bad, but nothing stood out at all. Nice enough, but not something I'd remember or even listen to at all if he hadn't been in the musical.

It's so easy to get distracted! So many clips out there! I was looking to see if that NPR story was online, and instead found the last night for a few of the actors. They played music from West Wing during it, ha!
