By the dawn's early light
Oct. 20th, 2003 09:04 amLike a good little American, I set my clock back on Saturday night. It's nice doing it in the fall, since we get an extra hour of sleep. ...What's that you say? It's next weekend we set the clocks back? Oops. I learned that Sunday morning, when I investigated why my computer clock didn't change. (Sorry XP, this time I blamed you for something that wasn't your fault.)
Spent most of the day on Sunday with
tersa. Went out to lunch at a nice salad place, watched Bend It Like Beckman (which I liked a lot, especially since soccer is the only sport I enjoy watching), and sampled her "moo-less chocolate pie" -- chocolate pie made with tofu! Quite surprisingly, it was really, really good. It tasted like chocolate and nothing else.
tersa knitted me a Slytherin scarf! Woo woo! I'm going to take and post photos of it tonight (didn't have time last night).
Since *sniff* Fang moved out of my town and into
tersa's, I had only one character left that I liked -- all the others I was (at best) indifferent about. So I decided to take advantage of that and get lots of new animals to move in. I traveled from my main town to my second town six times. Only four animals moved out, but luckily they were the ones I liked the least. (I hope there won't be a "delayed reaction" moving for those two times where no one moved out.) I'm down to 11 animals right now, with only one new one who moved in yesterday (not counting the sportsman lion who I got from
tersa). Tom (unsurprisingly, a cat). He's a grumpy male type, so I'm happy about that. Also, he moved into Fang's spot, so I'm thinking maybe I can get a Butch/Tom love thing going on to replace Fang for poor Butch.
Late last night I got my
hp100 drabble written. Another uninspiring challenge week, IMO, but happily I came up with an idea.
Title: The Peking Moon
House: Slytherin
Word Count: 100
Characters: The trio, Filch, Mrs. Norris, and the "House Special".
A/N: I hope this doesn't offend anyone.
Ever since Mrs. Norris had vanished (sent who-knows-where by a mispronounced spell), Filch had been in a nasty mood. Harry and friends were only too happy to be getting away -- the trio would be visiting China!
Upon arriving, they wandered the Muggle streets, taking in the sights. Ron pointed out the many tiny wooden cages packed with cats, but Harry and Hermione couldn't explain them. Eventually rumbling bellies demanded dinner.
Thanks to a translation charm, they had no trouble getting food. The "house special" was ordered and eaten. Little did they know, now they'd never be free of Mrs. Norris.
-------
A/N: Sadly, cats really are eaten some places; I'm not attempting to further a stereotype here. And I'm a cat lover, honest! Don't throw things at me for this! :)
The title comes from the Cat in the Kettle song.

Date: 2003-10-20 09:21 am (UTC)The nice thing about tofu is that, with just a little bit of proper preperation, it really does taste like whatever it is mixed with and doesn't have a taste of its own. It's like a food flavor sponge, soaking up the flavors of everything else.
