Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tales

Odd thing about the Felix Salten book. I read the original Bambi and loved it. Still one of my favorites, read it many times. Read another book he wrote about rabbits, that one was okay. Then found there was a sequel to Bambi, and I tried that. It was awful. The deer talked and gossiped like people. They didn't sound like animals anymore- as they had in the first book. I wonder if his writing just slid downhill after the original Bambi, and his animal characters lost their original true-to-nature feel.
