[livejournal.com profile] wereadshite was a really great resource, but it hasn't been updated since August. I've contacted the person who runs it to see if she'd like for me to take it over (and to see if she has plans on coming back to it). If I don't hear back from her, I was thinking a new LJ that does the same would be handy...

Would anyone have a problem with a [livejournal.com profile] wereadshite2? Or we could name it something totally different (though I rather like the idea of that one).

------

I was happy the [livejournal.com profile] hp100 challenge came out in a timely manner today. I got to do it before vacation. We had to write about using broomsticks/flying.

Title: The History of Wizarding Flight
House: Slytherin
Word Count: 100
Author's (unrelated) notes: Good thing Slytherin won last week, or I'd be shopping for a new House now.

-------

Most people don't know this, but witches and wizards have not always used broomsticks to fly upon. There had been lots of trial and error before that familiar object was agreed to.

First cauldrons were tried (killing two birds with one stone), but too many "on the pot" jokes were made.

Flying rugs were tried and dismissed, though word got out and other lands adapted that idea.

Making children into flying objects was attempted, but the single and the childless protested. People with children protested, too.

Finally they returned to the dual-use idea, and brooms became the accepted object.

------

Off to vacuum and clean the cat box and take out the trash and and and and! *zoom!*
