Even if he does drop dead or get voted off, someone else will take up the "I Am A Bigger Arsehole Than Anyone Here!" position in his place.

I think it's a required part of the show, or something; someone has to be the bastard-arsehole-back-stabbing type to give the show some more interest.
Or so the guys in charge of the whole thing probably feel, anyways.
Or, more likely, it's just human nature; someone's always, always going to take the opportunity to stab other people in the back if they get the chance and if it means that the stabber gets to survive a little longer.
