Note to the writers:
Dudes, when we finally get some eps without tennis matches in them, please, please don't have them feature other sports...
Love, Thistle
However, we did learn one very interesting little fact in the everyone-play-some-other-sport ep: It's not only holding a tennis racket that sends Taka into burning mode. Apparently, it's whatever the physical event he's currently doing uses... So of course, my very next thought was a picture of him and one of his teammates naked from the waist down. Taka reaches for the other guy, and as soon as he wraps his hand around it... "I AM BURRRRNUNG!" *squeeze*
All the other Seigaku members wonder at the screaming coming from the clubhouse...

That's both a yay and an awww. What am I going to do once I can't watch new eps for hours on end? When I actually have to wait for new ones? Eek!
:)

Date: 2003-12-18 07:09 pm (UTC)Did you notice that this series actually has symbolism in it? (If that's the right word for it...) Like foreshadowing. When the wind blows, some change is coming. When a plane flies overhead, some massive change is coming. It's interesting to watch for those sorts of things, once you know the writers use them...

Date: 2003-12-18 08:17 pm (UTC)I wasn't sure if I wanted to know this, but I do so I'll ask: Do you know if there's an end planned for this series? From what I've seen of anime series thus far, they're all finite. Is this one different? Will it just go on until it's not popular anymore? Or is there an end planned? (I'm suspecting/worrying that it'll be after the Nationals...)

Date: 2003-12-18 08:48 pm (UTC)I'm not too sure about the anime, because a lot of the times (especially anime derived from shounen manga) they end before the manga ends because they just can't keep waiting for new material from the manga and also have the anime go on and on.
I know that right now for like 10 episodes or so, they've been on this long filler arc because they're waiting for the manga to get ahead before animating it. As far as the manga goes, Konomi sensei has said that he's got a rough idea of all the matches and the lineup of who's playing who, etc until the nationals (so I'm assuming that's where he wants to end it). How long it takes for him to finish writing it is another story, and whether or not the anime producers will choose to follow him to the end is yet another issue.
From the past shounen series I've seen, the anime usually ends before the manga does. I'm surprised at how many episodes of TeniPuri there are actually. Ep 113 just came out. But yeah, I don't want it to end either. ._.

Date: 2003-12-18 09:19 pm (UTC)Eee/whine. I hope they don't follow him! I'd hate to lose this series...
I was thinking about this this morning, and knowing it'll end "in character-ly" within the series (the guys graduating and moving on to different schools, as opposed to the writers just one day saying "to hell with it, let's end this puppy!") lends a sort of... not exactly 'angst', but a pressure to enjoy this now, while it lasts. Imagine, in just a few years they'll be moving on to different schools, not playing with each other anymore... Eee, sad...

Man, I wish for filler! I just started the worst ever matches. First off, there's a half-naked female coach with massive breasts! Arg! Get 'em off my screen! And the team is just SO annoying. (Jyousei, I think the name of the school is?) I watched the freaky twins (boys? girls? Who knows!) play doubles, then I had to turn it off.
At least if they stick to one game an ep, it'll be over before too much longer...
Yay! :)

Date: 2003-12-18 09:32 pm (UTC)I know exactly what you mean, because I've thought about it often. It's kind of scary how much I love these boys and want them to always be able to
have mass orgiesplay tennis together. TeniPuri so owns my soul. I never ever thought I'd be so addicted to a series about tennis. XD There'll always be other new series though, so just try to enjoy it now while it's still going strong. ^_^Oh boy, the Jousei arc is um...subpar, in my opinion. Just to let you know, Jousei is completely made up by the anime team and it wasn't a part of the manga (they were probably waiting for the manga to get ahead at that time too). I was amused by the Kaidou and Wakato match though.

Date: 2003-12-18 09:41 pm (UTC)have mass orgiesplay tennis together.*giggles lots* Mmm. But on this note, I've sort of changed my mind about actually wanting to see them kissin' and rolling around in bed and stuff. While that'd be cool as hell, it's all the hinting and teasing that the series does that really keeps my interest. It's like, the longer they resist giving us a resolution of the sexual tension, the longer and faster I'll chase after the series.
But then, maybe they could make them roll around in bed and we can see if people are more or less interested in it after! ;)

I know... I cried my eyes out when Dear Boys ended and thought I'd never love another series... but now the characters have all faded and are replaced by TeniPuri guys. I hate to think that might happen to them, too, but... it might. :/ I hope not though. I think/hope my love for them is stronger than it was for the Dear Boys guys...

Date: 2003-12-18 10:30 pm (UTC)Oh absolutely. I'll take explorations of relationships (smut or not) in fanfic, but it will never beat the subtext in the actual series (well, unless the series in question sucks at that sort of thing). It's what gets me so obsessed with some of these obscure pairing possibilities and keeps my interest fresh. It's also why I enjoy pairings that come from shounen anime more than pairings from outright boys love or yaoi series. And yes, UST is the best. ^^
Well, there are many series that I will always love and think of fondly, but I think my obsessions eventually fade and make way for new ones. I don't know how long my TeniPuri obsession will last, but I always want my current obsessions to last forever, you know? I'm sentimental like that. ^_~
