thistlechaser: (Inui's Super Love-Love Juice)

Still at work. No matter that it's New Year's Eve, we don't get to leave early. Roads were sadly empty this morning (if I have to go to work and suffer, everyone else should have to, too!). Despite us never getting a single bonus or raise here in three years, I'm still grumping that we get no bonus this year. Spent the morning recalling how even sucky high school temp jobs gave bonuses or *good* holiday gifts. Wondered how the hell this company retains its 200+ employees. Recalled the economy. Oh, right.

All I want to do is go home and watch stuff, but I really don't have much waiting for me to watch... X-TV, Trigun, Escaflowne... I need to find some new series to download. (I thought there was something after Whistle! that I was planning on watching, but now I don't recall what.)

I looked at the Someday's Dreamers BT stats this morning, and grrr'ed. 16 people trying to get it, not one of them uploading at more than 2 Kb/sec. Most of them at 0, a couple at 1. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over? Do people not understand how BT works? You have to *share*. Everyone uploads and everyone downloads, don't be a damned leech.

Grump, grump, grump. Seeing how some of us havn't been reviewed here at work since we were hired (like me! three years without one!), we were supposed to get one by Thanksgiving. That didn't happen, so we were supposed to get one by the end of December. Guess what? Hasn't happened!

Hm, this wasn't really supposed to be a grump-filled post. I guess talking about work was a bad idea. Let's list some good things!

* Went to the fruit stand at lunchtime. Got fruit and nuts for the weekend. I like fruit, but I never have any at home, so buying some is an accomplishment.
* Been sleeping well at night, really really well. Like out cold until the alarm goes off. This is odd but cool.
* Four day weekend coming up. Yay!
* Tire hasn't gone flat again, and despite the shop's losing of my tire (!!!), it seems to match the others currently on my car.
* TeniPuri fanfic makes me giggle like a schoolgirl. The latest one was Beware the Juice, which almost exactly matches my icon! (I'm still new enough to the fandom to not know if Inui's juice making them all fall into bed together is a giant fandom cliche. I suspect it is, but I'm just seeing it for the first time now.)

Kay. Guess that's enough. Happy New Year's Eve, folks!

I'd help you seed Someday's Dreamers. I turn my BT off sometimes when I decide to d/l something else. It's up right now though, but I'm currently stuck at 79%, so I still can't seed the whole thing. *prods it*

Ah, okay. I'll jump back onto it while waiting for Whistle to get off the ground.

It's possible that they're not leeches, that they just have firewalls they don't know how to poke through. That's why I don't use BT and when I tried my downloads were 1 kb/s.

Yeah, but they're getting good download speeds, so it's not a firewall issue. 50+ Kb/sec down an 1 Kb/sec up? Something's not right there...

You use XP? Did you disable the built in firewall? If you do that, it'll work fine even if you use an extra firewall (I use Zonealarm and it doesn't hurt my downloads at all).

Oh, I didn't read it right. I was thinking downloading, not uploading. And yeah, I'm on XP, but my firewall is built into my DSL modem, so I've no idea how to get around it.

If your job is as un..well, unfun as you make it sound, why don't you try and find a better job?
Sorry if I sound naive here; almost 16 and haven't yet had a summer job.

I'd like to, but I work in the tech industry and I live in Silicon Valley. We currently have a 25% unemployment rate here! That's many times higher than the rest of the US. No one is hiring, which makes getting a new job a challenge. :/

Well...you could always keep an eye out for jobs that you would enjoy more or at least find less stressful. You don't have to quit your current job right away; just when you've decided that you've found a new job that you would find much better than your current one.
