In an effort to reclaim more of my harddrive, I did lots more burning tonight. For some reason, my GetBacker eps always, always skip. I even alternated and burnt other things between GB eps -- the other things came out fine, the GB stuff skipped. Odd...

Also, I finally watched the last two GB eps. And when I say "finally", I mean it. GetBackers was one of the very first series I watched and loved, but the "good" subbing group hadn't finished the last few eps, so I was waiting for them to finish because I wanted to watch the best version. Well, months later, I've finally given up and watched the version from the less good group. Alas, I waited too long. I didn't hardly remember anything of the story, so the ending didn't mean too much. I'd like to watch the whole series again... except all the burnt eps have skips. :P

I also moved a couple of movies to CD, including Mulan and Reign of Fire. Yep, Reign of Fire. Recall how *wild* everyone was while waiting for that movie to come out? (Or at least us geeky types.) We were expecting so much from it, it's really too bad that it sucked so many metric tons of ass. Anyway, the CGI on the dragons did rock, so I saved the movie for the, what, ten minutes that they show up in it.

It really amazes me how little difference spending a night burning and deleting can make. Just a little space freed! And so much deleted! (Yes, I did empty the trash.) Oh well, more burning and deleting tomorrow...

... might you need to defragment your drive? (Or do new versions of Windows do it automatically? *kicks slow-as-mud '97 Dell*

Given my experience with Anime shows, this actually sounds normal, even if you do watch them straight through. ;)

That the ending don't generally mean too much? Hmmm. I think "the ending not being the end of the story" is often the case, yeah. Sometimes it's because the anime is based on the manga (comic book), and the manga continues on while the anime stops for whatever reason. I think it's also just a Japanese thing not to have a real ending on things. I'm not sure why, maybe to leave things open to later make OVAs (not sure what that stands for, Official Video something, but it's a movie they make during or after a series ends), or maybe it's just some cultural thing...

(I'm not sure what your level of anime-exposure is, so sorry if I seemed to talk down to you in my explaining of the terms!)

Nope, they don't do it automatically... but that'd be handy as heck! In my efforts to make XP more stable (ha ha), I do it on a weekly basis. Good idea though!

I haven't watched nearly the amount of anime that you have, but I'm familiar with all the terms you've used. :)

I just know that a lot of people I know really into anime gripe heavily that the last couple of episodes of a show's run seem to have nothing to do with all the stuff leading up to it, or take an acute turn off into la-la land that leaves them feeling highly dissatisfied with the ending episodes. :)
