Zzzz, meeeeow, rock the vote, and rain

thistlechaserZzz: Back to not being able to sleep. It sucks so hard to be in bed, tired, and not be able to fall asleep. Then, finally, in the middle of the night you drift off, only to wake up under an hour later. Toss and turn and roll and roll and roll, and eventually it's time to get up.
Meow: Little cat update, since I'm posting anyway: After being sick that one day when I posted about her last, she's been better. Can you believe she eats the meat of 20 chicken thighs in one week? That's a darned lot of meat (5-6 Ziploc bags full of it). I don't know if my biggest pot will hold much more than 20 thighs at a time, but I'm going to try to make more in the next batch so I have to cook less often.
Rock the vote: I wasn't planning on voting today, I know almost nothing about any of the people running, but the firehouse on the corner by my apartment is a voting place, so I might stop in and vote anyway. It's just that voting when you don't know enough seems worse than not voting at all...
Rain: It's been six? seven? eight? months since it last rained. Funny how I don't miss it anymore. If it never rained again I'd not miss it, though I'd never plant flowers again, that's for darned sure. Every day I walk by all the dead plants and flowers in my little yard and feel a tinge of guilt. Not too much guilt, because keeping them alive through the hot and rainless summer was a... well, not near-impossibility, but more work than I was willing to put into silly plants. My mother is a gardner, so when she was out here visiting me she planted them all for me. I hadn't really wanted them (one would have been nice, but I have 15 or so pots of them), but she wanted to do it for me so I went along with it. Now I have a plant graveyard in my yard.
