Mis-reading provides more entertainment than it should

I'm not sure if it's because I'm old, because I'm tired all the time, or because I read to fast, but I keep making these odd "mistakes" ("assumptions"? "guesses"?) when reading. When I get to a word, I read the first letter, take in how long the word is, consider the context of the sentence, and my brain makes a guess as to what the word is -- without reading it. (This isn't a conscious thing, it just happens.) So I get mistakes like this:

Madhouse to Animate Natural Born Killers

Corsham Entertainment has issued a press release announcing that they are in talks with Madhouse to animate Larry Bundy Junior's Natural Born Killers.

So my first thought was 'Wow! I guess Natural Born Killers could make a pretty cool anime! ...but did Larry Bundy Junior write it or something? I don't recall ever hearing that name before...'.

Then I re-read and discovered it was "Natural Born Kittens"! Quite a big difference! This sort of thing is happening more and more, which isn't really a good thing.

In the continued trend of "let's mess with Thistle's head", co-worker came in today. Buh?

I have two eps left of Witch Hunter Robin. I'm going to be so glad to finish that darned series! While talking with Hyper the other night, I think I discovered why I can't get into the series much: I don't like or have interest in ANY of the characters! How can you like a series when you have no connections with any of the characters? Two more eps, then I'll be done with the darned thing and can delete it.

It was a pretty series animation-wise, and there was a bit of the story arc that I liked a lot, but as a whole Witch Hunter Robin did nothing for me.

I hope some of next month's new series will be really good. I need something new to get into...

It's a miracle! XD Now we'll see if he'll stay in for the rest of the week.

Yeah, Witch Hunter Robin started out interesting, but I quickly forgot about it after watching it. Too much focus on style and not enough story.

Well, they did clone a kitten down in Texas... (But I think they were talking about some manga or something. I never heard of it before.)

Say, that dead horse is askin' for it...You could always watch Cowboy Bebop to tide you over. Its only 26 episodes (and a movie), so it's not that much of a time commitment, comparatively speaking. All logic suggests you'll like it if you give it a chance...Or you'll inexplicably hate it, and we can all make fun of you. Either way.

You know, I could try that again. I gave up on it the first time (in my way pre-anime days) because one of the characters had green hair. I'm over that sort of thing now. It must be licensed though, which will make it harder to find. I'll poke about for it tonight. Thanks!
