I'm very tired of being sick at the actions of people. I need to make an effort to find some *good* things. (No, I don't go looking for bad stuff, it's just everywhere and hard to avoid.)

Bill Frist, Senate Majority Leader and Republican, lied, probably broke laws, and killed cats on a regular basis. Quote:

"Frist acknowledged in a 1989 book that he routinely killed cats while an ambitious medical student at Harvard Medical School in the 1970s. His office said it had no record on how many cats died. Frist disclosed that he went to animal shelters and pretended to adopt the cats, telling shelter personnel he intended to keep them as pets. Instead he used them to sharpen his surgical skills, killing them in the process."

I love what is said in his defense:

"One Frist supporter said the senator's opponents are fueling the interest in the issue.

"What is happening here is that people are doing profiles of the senator, and they are desperate to find something wrong with him and to come up with something bad in his past," he pointed out. "

Forget that this asshole admitted he did it, no! Boo hoo hoo! It's all his opponents' fault!

My heart and my head hurt. How can this "person" be permitted to walk around free, let alone be in a position of power? How the hell can people do such things? Why does someone who quite obviously not care about other living things have the power to make decisions? What the hell is wrong with this place?

Bah.

what makes me even MORE ill is that just now i find out i was living in a state that allowed labs to take animals from shelters. maybe moving to california was a good thing.

i think PETA's requests are quite, quite reasonable. 'atoning' doesn't do a damned thing for all the animals he killed.

Yes and yes. That four states hadn't changed yet made me really, really sad.

Isn't it? This guy is deciding on laws, and how many steps from becoming president? Four? (Been a long time since high school social studies. President, VP, someone else?, him? Or is he third?)

I looked up the info:

If both the President and Vice President die, resign, or are impeached, the Speaker of the Congress shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the President as Acting President, and the Congress shall within thirty days of the last vacancy elect a President and Vice President, convening for that purpose if not in session, and declare vacancies in the Congress. If the Office of the Speaker is vacant, or if the Speaker dies or resigns from Congress during said thirty-day period, the Vice Speaker shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the President as Acting President.

Mph. And my mom wonders why I feel like curling up in my room and avoiding the world?

Sometimes it makes you just wanna cry... why are people so disgusting? With stuff like this happening, it makes me feel awful being the same species. Just causes your stomach to twist up...

The kitty loving part of me says "Dear gods! That's cruel!" then, the part of me that realizes that animals wouldn't be in shelters and killed within six months if they aren't adopted says "It's getting rid of our animal overpopulation problem."

Oh yeah. Then there's the part that thinks "At least he didn't mow off their heads".

I think there's something wrong with me ^_^;;

Yes, it's true that they do get killed in a shelter, but at least it's in a controlled, approved way... not some guy lying to get one and then hacking into them. And yeah, he could have done worse things to them, but he also could have acted like a worthwhile human being and not done it at all.

Agreed on all of that. We're the same species as this guy! How wrong is that? I don't want to be from the same planet as him!

Bah.

Right on both counts! I thought it was Tidus, but then someone told me there was a fellow who looked like Tidus in FFX-2, and that it was him.
