I always feel that I should post at least once a day, so people don't think I'm dead or don't forget I exist or don't feel like they're getting their money's worth from friending me. Silly, I know.

The subject of today's post will be: Pokemon! Yep, another topic that just a small fraction of my flist cares about; I have such a widely varying group of people who have friended me, I don't think there's any one topic that would interest everyone -- maybe each and every post should have an apology to those who don't care? :p

So I'm still trudging through the new Pokemon game. I'm unsure if I'm sad or happy that this new version hasn't re-hooked me on the franchise, but I suspect "happy" is the option closer to the truth. Even though I've visited the (tiny, tiny) new area, I find myself highly and seriously bored by the game. Not only is it nearly all the same as the older versions (even down to the NPCs saying the same things), the drudge of needing to level your team is just that: a drudge. I do as little of it as I can, which really isn't the right way to play.

Because I know the game so well, it's had almost no challenge at all. (The only part so far that stumped me was not being able to remember who to get the drink from to give to the guard so you can pass through to Saffron.)

My current team:

Charizard (the only one I cared about evolving, Charizard is just cool)
Rattata (holding that everstone thing so he won't evolve into an ugly Raticate)
Raichu
Gyarados
Fearow (how could I not have one? I've used him in every game)
Kadabra

I never name my pokemon and I couldn't tell you off-hand what level/sex they are. I've beaten six of the GLs, but somehow have avoided going to Seafoam.

I had thought maybe I'd deal with breeding this time, but in truth I just want to beat the final Four so I can put the game away and be done with it. I strongly suspect this will be the last Pokemon game I ever buy. Is that a sad thing? I don't think so. I'm rather unhappy this last version was released at all: Other than a few "new" moves (from other old Pokemon games), and a tiny new area, this is just a repackaging of the original game. Why'd I pay $40 for it when I still own the old games? Why would I want to play it when I don't want to replay the old games? I couldn't tell you...

Yeah, I kind of know what you mean. I was playing it for a while at the demo booth in Walmart's electronics section and I wasn't all that thrilled with it either.

However, since I lost my originals (too much moving around and letting people borrow/destroy them), I'll still buy copies. I'm just gonna wait till the price goes down a bit, just because I'm cheap like that. ^^;

Yes. Yes, it is basically just a repackaged and prettier looking version of the first two games. Fanboys and girls were probably complaining about how they could not 'catch them all' if the latest games for the Gameboy Advance didn't even connect with the previous games. And hey, look, more money for Nintendo! :O

And these two move at a horribly, horribly sluggish pace. But still, it does have some redeeming factors. Once you beat the Elite Four, a whole new section of the game opens up for you. So keep your chin up, or...something. Really, these games are slow. (Yay for ripping off the companies by using a ROM and its x1000 speed button. Levelling has never been less painful. Boo for not being able to bring my PC along on trips, though.)

Really, the best part of this game is naming yourself and your rival--and any other thing you have the option of renaming--after characters from a favorite anime. Now Kabuto (Kabuto~) can force Sasuke to fight for him against that cocky twerp Naruto. Muhahaha.

...*Cough.* ....

Heehee! Muchly amusing!

Once you beat the Elite Four, a whole new section of the game opens up for you.

Oh, good to hear! I hadn't known that.

Thanks!

"Every Time You Redeem Draco, God Kills A Ferret"

*falls over* Heeheehee! Is that a new name? I love it!

That's not being cheap, it's being smart!

Yeah. I quoted it off of the Draco Fangirl commandments, just because I can't stand redeemed!Draco fics. Especially the ones that have him doing it for Hawwy's twu lub. Not my cuppa tea, really.

And here I always thought that I was just a tightwad like my mother. Goes to show. XD
